Anyone face a similar situation. I recently bought some FAR items such as NIS, sharpener etc paid 70% of the transaction by cash and the rest by credit card. Two days later when I try submitting the Easy rebate I was stunned to see the site returning a message saying that the items have been returned. I was surprised as I never did any return and still had the products. I check my credit card and see two entries (not one) which almost totalled the amount I paid with credit card. (What happened to the amount I paid with cash God only knows!!!). I felt this was strange as all the products purchased as well as the reciepts were with me. I remember long back when I did return a calculator which did not suit my needs, Staples took my Drivers license number and all that brouhaha, made me sign a return slip etc. Wasnt all that required in this case. I chatted with Stapes online and they told me to contact rebate center. I spoke to rebate center and they told me to mail in the forms if I could not fill in online. Not that it will change the scenario as I discussed with herthat my rebates will be invalidated due to returns I never made. I called up the store where I bought the items and the store manager did not have any immediate aswer but said he will get back to me. Over all two things strange..1) How or who did the return processing and 2)where did the cash payment go. I am still looking for answers or advice. Also, what can I do in such a case TIA
Most readers here might assume that you were involved somehow in the return and are trying to get away with something shady, which I have no opinion on, but in rare cases, weird computer glitches do happen.
For example, yesterday, I looked at my Paypal account (which I do about once a month), and to my suprise there were 2 credit cards associated with it, and one of the credit card numbers I've never seen in my life. I maintain a list of all my credit and debit cards, and I checked the list, but this new credit card number is a number that I've never had. I emailed the paypal help (who wrote me back and told me to email paypal help via the "contact us" button with my problem -- stupidly enough, since that is who I had emailed the first time, via the "contact us" button, so I emailed them again the same way). I then got three answers back from three different "help" email addresses, one from paypal and two from eBay. All three of them said that they had no information about the credit card number, except that it was added in April, and could give me no further information on it. I found it hard to believe that it was added back in April, but it wasn't my card in any case, and I'm not going to use it obviously, so I deleted it from the paypal account. I have no idea how a strange credit card got added to my paypal account, but it must have been a computer glitch.
I told the Manager of the store and he investigated. Found that a store employee did the return w/o anybody's knowledge and pocketed the cash. The Manager gave me free coupons instead of rebate. Scary! when dealing with cash transaction. Never happened before but things to watch out.

Wow, did this employee get fired? I would hope so.

Wow, did this employee get fired? I would hope so. I do not know yet. But I think it was a lady employee. She was still in the store when I went a second time.
