Hi, 2 weeks ago OfficeMax had a deal where you buy Intuit's QuickBooks Simple Start 2009 for $49.99 (regular price 99.99) and you get an $80 rebate from Intuit. I submitted all the requirements and now Intuit says my rebate is invalid because I bought the item on sale and on the promotion details it says that the rebate cannot be combined with any other offers unless otherwise specified by Intuit.
I called the rebate number on the submission form and talk to a regular rep, then a supervisor, then a manager, they all said the same thing that since OfficeMax had the item on sale, that made my rebate invalid and they kept referring me to the promotion details saying "...cannot be combined with any other offers..." and that the minimum purchase price for the rebate is $99.99 I told them that that sale is offered through OFFICEMAX, not Intuit and that is misleading and that I've never heard of a rebate where you have to purchase it at a certain price in order for it to be valid. They kept telling me that because I bought the product on sale through a promotion with OfficeMax, that disqualifies my $80 rebate.
I asked to speak to someone higher up and he gave me the corporate number 877-378-8545, it seems this number is a number for Parago/RebatesHQ. Of the reps that I talk to at the regular phone number 800-201-0845, are they from Intuit, or a rebate company on behalf on Intuit? Any advice on what to do, or am I outta luck on this one?

It sounds like technically Intuit is within their rights to deny the rebate, since it was combined with another offer.
The rebate company Intuit contracted with will probably do everything they can to avoid paying you the rebate, you might be better off contacting Intuit directly and working with OfficeMax at the same time.

There is another thread on this subject in Hot Deals. Any deal OfficeMax may have made should be irrelevant to Intuit. Also, none of the rebate documentation referred to a minimum price to qualify. It may well be that Intuit made a bad deal, but they should have to honor the deal that was made and learn from their mistake next time. A number of complaints have been filed with BBB, etc. - maybe these will have some effect.

Thanks BrianGa for the links. After two courteous and respectful e-mails to Intuit (Parago) Customer Service that yielded nothing, I filed a BBB complaint. I just received an update that my rebate is now valid and I will receive my check on 15 days.
