Baby Einstein DVDs, which were promoted as educational for babies but recently determined to be not-quite-educational, are going through a PR mess.

They're offering a $15.99 refund no matter the original purchase price on any Baby Einstein DVD purchased between 2004 and Sept 2009. See details http://www.babyeinstein.com/(S(3qnoffi1whnnnt55h2ljk355))/parentsguide/satisfaction/upgrade_us.html

You just fill out the form on that page and tell them the date that you purchased it, and send in the DVD... up to 4 per household.

You may happened to have bought yours used on Amazon or eBay at approx $2 each plus $3 shipping each, spending only $20 to get 4 Baby Einstein DVDs, and then let's say you spend a couple bucks to send all four in together (just fill out separate forms).

You'll receive $64 back as a refund, which they say is current market value.

So... $42 bucks ahead if you recently bought them used.

Or $64 if you already owned some.

But this is only for people who already purchased these DVDs in the past. If you were to buy it today, it wouldn't be honest to list an earlier date on that form. I guess you may have to use your best estimate, if you can't recall exactly.

Offer is valid until March 2010.

I have a boxed set. Here I come...

Been trying to figure out what to do with them.... Thanks OP!

Many boxed sets on eBay, however they are boxed sets of 26 sent from HK . . . not sure if they qualify. secondspin.com has low prices (use octdvd).

hmmmm. i think we have at least a couple of these that people got us as gifts. the boys just never took an interest in them, say, in same way something shiny on the ground would/did/does.

Can you return 4 DVD's in one envelope of must they be sent individually?

I have a boxed set of around 16 DVDs. I hope these qualify.

edit: I have similar to these

Great post. I wonder if costco will take back the entire $120 set wihtout a receipt too - its been 5 years!

I searched on Hot Deals for such a post, didn't find it and then posted my own. Mistercheap redded my post and alerted the mods, who locked the thread I opened.

I have no complaints for these actions, I only am asking why this is not considered a hot deal. IMO, Baby Einstein should hold the full financial responsibility for misleading the customers. And this deal is still a hot deal.

this thread did start out in hot deals, the mods moved it to DD for whatever reasons. red was for the repost, not for the content.

Shows up only in the Modern layout, though...

Did you ever compare your discs with the authentic ones, like those you can get from the local library?

If one were to forget what date they purchased the DVDs, what date might someone suggest in order to refresh their memory?

So does anyone have an answer of whether these eBay box sets will work? I am pretty sure they are all from China also, but people are buying them up on eBay like hotcakes, but I think they are all going to be sorely disappointed when their refund request gets dinged.

Shame on anyone willing to get a quick buck without researching this refund. If you agree with Susan Linn, then read no more and collect your dough. However, if like me, you actually valued your Baby Einstein videos and believe they are a good product, please support Disney by not claiming a refund!! Anyone claiming the refund is supporting Susan Linn's cause which although based on reasonable ideas has spun out of control into the rediculous. Thanks. I just noticed, tho:
"To participate, you must have purchased a Baby Einstein DVD between June 5, 2004 and September 4, 2009."

Yes, who's to say you didnt purchase the 2002 releases in 2004, 2005, etc? In reality, I couldnt tell you the date of purchasing 90% of the stuff in my house.

Mailed mine 10/27, received the check today.
