Rebate companies process millions of mail in rebates every year. What happens to all these forms/receipts/UPCs after they're processed and the rebate check is sent? I am just curious.

Actually you send your rebates to El Paso then they are trucked over to Mexico where they are scanned and then some dude in India punches in the information. The new CIO of my company used to work for a rebate company. That's where he came from.

After the data is entered into the computer systems in India, are all the forms just thrown away?

Papers will go to a Big Shredder.

All data collected will be sold to marketing companies or people who do market research to generate statistics of consumer trends.
