I think I got a Scratch & Dent Inspiron 1545 that was masquerading as a Refurb. The laptop has white sticky goo in places and the screen has streak marks that were clearly visible before I turned the thing on. There are scuff marks and scratches in places and yesterday I noticed a pressure mark in the top right hand corner of the screen. I wasn't expecting perfection but at the same time I wasn't expecting to receive a laptop that looked like it was clearly used. I was so excited about finally getting a new laptop for myself and it was kind of an early birthday present since my BD is at the beginning of Nov.

I called them last night and they offered a $35 credit to keep the laptop which I would have accepted if the screen hadn't had a pressure mark/blemish that annoys me each time I'm on a site with a background that accentuates it .They said they'd wave the 15% restock fee but I would have to talk with customer service about reissuing the 20% coupon that I used. I spent some of yesterday looking for a system in the outlet near the price I paid and couldn't find anything.

Would asking for a supervisor have gotten me further? I'm not sure how to go about trying to get the Dell CS people to make a deal. It took me about 4 days to find the laptop I did and that was using the Outlet Scanner. I want to return this one but I don't want to have to search for days for another laptop in their outlet like I did with this one.

I know dealing with Dell is like a crapshoot most of the time and I was hoping some people who have made deals with them before may have some advice.

Thanks

They would have probably been willing to give a higher credit to keep the laptop, but with the pressure spot you probably wouldn't want that. I doubt you could have done any better than getting an offer of a higher credit. If you want a deal as good as you got at first, you'll probably have to watch the outlet for days again.
