HELP!! I need help on details with XBOX 360 and Play Station 3. Which is the better unit? Which is more popular? What makes one better over the other? My boyfriend wants one of these for christmas and I do not know which one to get him and he's not even sure which one he prefers. Also, any good deals on these? Or upcoming deals? What are good games to get for each of these units?

Thank you.

Will he use it more for movies or games? If its watching movies get him a PS3 if its playing games get him an xbox 360. Or get him whatever his friends have so he can play with them online.

They are more pros and cons to both of them but that is a quick 2 sentence summary.

Perfect answer. Answer those 2 questions, and you'll have your answer. I have a PS3, and the Blu-ray is great. But if his friends use Xbox, then you should get him an Xbox too.

Technologically speaking, the PS3 is a more powerful system. But that does not mean that it is a better system. Let's have quick breakdown of the systems...
Xbox 360 --> + more library of games, multi-player friendly
- no blu ray player, does not come with wireless adapter, needs to pay to play online
PS3 --> + blu ray player, free online gaming, comes with wifi
- most games are design for single player on a single console (online is different), lack of game title choices (but it's getting better)
Now I personally own a PS3 and rather own one, but I love my friend's Xbox. Go to cnet or google other specs on the system.

Now that the price has been reduced on PS3, there is a chance that more games will be made for it. Also, a lot of games are not exclusives - many popular ones are available for both systems.
If you love the idea of blu-ray, I wouldn't rule out considering PS3.

I'd recommend getting him whatever his friends have. Odds are he'll be at their house, see a game he likes and will want to play it at home.

FWIW, I've got both the xbox and the ps3, and rarely use the PS3 as my friends are way more into the xbox.
