i canceled and they had me reorder to get the promotion...and before I got the exact email you posted, someone at Amazon responded and decided to just reduce the price of the xbox 360 instead of giving me the $100 promotional credit...for some reason

According to the link above In order to qualify for the $100 promotional code, you must purchase an Xbox 360 Arcade from the Amazon.com Gold Box for the promotional price of $199.98 during the times it is featured as a Lightning Deal, while supplies last. The promotional code will not be reflected at checkout when you purchase the Xbox 360 Arcade; instead, the final order confirmation page under "Order Summary " and the order confirmation email will mention "Lightning Deal: -$0.01" and the promotional code will be sent via email (along with instructions for use) seven (7) business days after the qualifying order has shipped. Orders that do not contain the message "Lightning Deal: -$0.01" do not qualify for this promotion.
I'm at the Order Summary page and I don't see the "Lightning Deal: -$.01"

Will Amazon also validate the Dell 1545 deal? I did the same cancellation right after I ordered because the promotion Price was not listed in the final order.

so I'm at the checkout screen and it looks like a normal transaction (no notice anywhere of gift card). How do I know I will get one?

I think this offer is only for those who placed order on Nov 7 and eventually cancelled the order because of the price was not adjusted. It may be worthy to call Amazon CS and explain that you didn't put the order through at that time because you already found the price was not adjusted in the last step before final checkout.

You can only qualify for this if you receive the email. You'll only get this email if you previously were one of the lucky few to try and order the xbox 360 arcade and subsequently canceled due to ordering problems. If you didn't try ordering an xbox 360 on Saturday then disregard this post!

I am still trying my luck here...at most I will return the item..
Same thing for me - cancelled, complained to 2nd level manager about bait/switch tactic, 3 rounds of email complain, they finally offered me the deal again, and shortly after I got the OPs email as well. Placed my order, hope all goes well. Kudos to Amazon for making it right.

It'd be great if it was for everyone but I kinda doubt Amazon is THAT generous.

I also ordered during the promotion and noticed the order summary is not 199.98. So I cancelled it.
Today's email make it worthwhile. Amazon, I heart you!

Wrong, I was able to use this to buy DJ Hero for the Wii. I then qualified for the $40 discount associated with that game at that time and used that one on a later purchase.
