I have about $200 in Staples Rewards money that expires 12/31. A long time, you were able to buy something small and get the remainder value on a Staples cash Card. They stopped that now and issue a one-time-use remainder coupon that then must be used all in one transaction or you lose the balance.
Anybody know of any tricks to turn the rewards check into a gift card or otherwise extend the expiration date?
Does Staples sell other stores' gift cards and if so can the reward checks be used on them?

Thanks in advance for any helpful ideas.
Some Staples ells a variety of gift cards. You can use ink rewards money and the coupons issued when you do not spent it all.
No - the days of turning SR into gift cards are long gone.
FAR is the best you're going to do.
I get $30 in ink recycling rewards monthly. This really does come in handy for redeeming vs. a variety of things we need around the house. So, if you stock up on supplies then you've freed up cash you'll spend elsewhere.
One other thing to consider if you have kids - Staples has a small but decent selection of art supplies that make nice holiday gifts.
