I bought Brothers printer HL-2170W from Office Max and use MaxPerk card back in August. I saw the deal from fatwallet and several internet forum regarding $30 visa gift card with Brother printer purchase, so I thought I got a good deal with $59.99 printer.

It is November now, but I still didn't receive visa gift card so I emailed maxperks and they told me that the promo never existed. I emailed them twice and they said that they never run this promo. Here is their last email.

Dear xxx,

Thank you for your Max Perks inquiry. We do apologize but that $30.00 dollar Visa Card for that printer was not one of are promotions at that time. The sites you have that state that are currently wrong.

I will not buy anything from Officemax again.

Staples pulled the same crap on me so I wont shop at Staples again either.

I was also suposed to get a visa card on a shredder and computer but Staples similarly screwed me over.

I always print it out for proof and stash it in my rebate folder

Put it in the Box ....Take It Back and get a refund.

Any time I see something like this... I call and check it out.. so I don't get burned

The original deal posting was a Sunday.
Maybe there is an old ad around or maybe you find someone with an old email on it.

I have the old email about it. It says a visa card for select Brother printers but there are no specifics. You need to click the email link and it's obviously dead now. Are the AD's archived somewhere?

This printer was eligible for this offer, I saw the link under printer's description that it is eligible for $30 visa gift card. I will not pursue this, but I will never shop there again.

Print out a copy of the offer from one of the deal sites.
Send a letter to your state attorney general's office and the better business bureau.

From a google search, there are many others who also had problems receiving Office max offers.

Put out the work on getting ripped off by officemax at a site like:

www.ripoffreport.com

officemax ripped me off $50 visa card on a more expensive brother laser printer. I'm going to contact them again. or return the printer under no meeting of the mind.
