Don't want to be a "downer" just before Cyber-Monday, but is anyone out there concerned about the Senate Commerce Committee report that came out yesterday (November 17, 2009)? The report indicates that some of the "big-name" online retailers have been using customers' credit card information in a manner that, while not illegal, is quite immoral. It appears that, after your credit card info has been added for a purchase, a screen comes up asking if you'd be interested in purchasing some third party membership service. The screen appears before you have actually placed your actual order, and customers get confused. They check the more prominent "YES" button and the online retailer provides this third party with your credit card info for a service the customer did not intend to purchase. Here's more on story: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/17/ptm-scams-scamville-rockefe... While I am certain that most Fatwallet members are savvy online purchasers, I think it is something that we should all be alert to this season. I know that the online retailers are Fatwallet's bread and butter, but is there some way to create a list of the abusive retailers to assist shoppers????

Merchants paying the most to those post-transaction marketers are listed at top of TechCrunch article. I still do business with some of them, but I stay away from all post-transaction ploys.
