Your going to need to get there at least an hour or two before open, but it depends on your location. Only time I went was WalMart a couple years ago when i lived back home (much smaller area), and we got there 1 1/2 hours early and there was still a very long line. The items will be gone way before noon.

For those items, my professional advice would be to start camping on Thanksgiving morning if you are at all in a town with >100 people. You can drive past on t-day and see the line for yourself. WalMart is doing something different with keeping their stores open 24h in most places, so not sure how the whole crazy line thing is going to go this year.

Mentioned by a dealsite: Stay up Wednesday night and start looking at websites right at the start of Thanksgiving at 12:01 when retailers may start posting Thanksgiving day specials. Retailers are indicating they will have Thanksgiving day bargains.
The best advice I can give you is the evaluate if these deals are worth camping out for. Personally, I do not think the laptop deals are. We may not see $200 laptops everyday, but we do see them around $250 about once a month is a much less competitive environment [than WalMart or Target on bf]. The $298 laptop was sold for the same price just a couple weeks ago, we may see it at that price again.
The Netbook deal may be easier to get. I honestly have never been to OM or OD on black friday, but I never hear about people camping out there. You may be able to get there an hour or two early and sit in your warm car until you see people starting to line up.
As for the TVs, I do not trust the Emerson Wal-Mart is selling. They sold the same model (Well.. they added a letter to the model number) last year for $348 and bad reviews are starting to come into WalMart.com.
If you live in a large city, find a store in a nearby smaller town. A 30 minute drive will probably improve your odds. Smaller stores have lower stock, but I've gone into Walmarts at 8:00 and got door busters that got sold out in minutes at the store I was at just a couple hours earlier (don't count on this happening).

Three years ago, I went to the Dallas area Micro Center to get my first flat screen TV. I went at 2 AM, There were at least 350 people ahead of me. I stayed. But, that TV ran out just 3 people behind me. (They started handing out coupons to people in the line for specific items at about 6 AM.)
The year after that, it seemed to me that BF had become more of a Marketing gimmick with very little value to offer. But, that's just me, perhaps.
