I was interested in getting a Nikon D5000 camera and the Nikon AF-S DX 55-200MM f/4-5.6G IF-ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens...so I went looking around...
I looked at all the Black Friday ads and tried to see if there were any good deals with these 2 going around...and I found none (if you know of any, can you let me know)?
Then I dropped into PC Richard & Son, and told them about how WalMart was selling the bundle for $899 online. I asked if they price matched and did the "additional 10% discount" that Best Buy does...and after checking with their managers, they said yes...
So...I ended up getting the price match and the 10% discount on top of that (which actually - Best Buy's rule is that they give 10% of the difference in price, instead of just 10% on top of the price math)...
Is this a good deal? They sold me the D5000 for $660 and the Lens for $150. (The manufacture price is $799 for the camera...PC was having a sale and were selling it for $700 and for the lens, manufacture says $249, it was on sale for $215).
Are there any cheaper and/or better deals for the D5000 out there? Or did I make a good deal? (If I didn't, I'm going to return the camera and get a better deal)!!
doesn't look very promising... I'd say get a deal on a D3000 this year to get the VR lenses and then upgrade to a D5000 body later and eBay the d3000 body??? I think the D3000 will satisfy most people more than they expect.
