Well, I decided to get one, but I thought it might be better to wait till Black Friday to buy one. So where do you think the best deal is? I've looked around and it seems the best deal so far is Target's BF sale. It is about $295 with a $30 Target gift card for the 32GB version, but I have no idea if it is 3rd gen...

TRU has a $50 GC with purchase of a Touch. I'm getting the 64gb so I'm good on the 3rd gen.

Well... Amazon's regular price of $279 is actually better after considering CA tax at Target and the gift card.

If you want to get 8 gb toys r us will offer It for 199$ with 50$ gift card for 3th gen.

Plus $5.00 in MP3 downloads from there store. I'm been researching the ipod touch for a few weeks now. After the BF ads can out, I realized Amazon was the best place for me. After 9% sales tax all the BF sales were more than Amazon. Apple may have better deals on their website Friday but I didn't want to bother with it.

Um, the 8gb Ipod Touches are not 3rd generation. It has 2nd gen hardware: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_iPhone_and_iPod_Touch_model...

They call it 3rd generation but the parts are mainly 2 generation. Same processor, gpu and memory. My friends who have upgraded from the 2nd generation to 3rd generation say their is a noticeable speed increase.

stealingbabies is correct. If you want the better processor and increased RAM you will need to purchase a 32 or 64 gig touch. The 8 gig "3rd" gen is essentially the same as the 2nd gen. If you want to use your touch for gaming, then the 32 or 64 are the way to go.

The Apple Store demo'd the difference for us ... they opened the SIMS game on the 8GB and the 32GB side by side. If only for music, 8GB is sufficient. Games and movies, you definitely see a difference with the 32 or 64.

I just got one (new version with bluetooth and version 3.1) and it is really really cool.

I am not a big Apple fan (not an iTunes fan), but they did a great job. I cannot get an iPhone
because AT&T sucks as far as price and coverage, but I just tether my iPod Touch to my phone via wifi and it's as good as having an iPhone (and in some ways better - it is slmmer and lighter, and no monthly fee!)

And the price was right...$75 and a lot of patience.

howd you get if ro 75?!?!?!

I saw a posting on Overstock.com for 8GB Refurb for $150.00 I guess they just uploaded the new software on some stock they had. I don't really know but it's tempting enough for me since I've been looking to buy one as an ereader and for some apps. Link to Overstock.com deal

Alright. As of right now, Target offers the lowest price: $269 for the 32gb model. Bing has Cash Back of 3-7% Cash Back for Target. WalMart has the best deal: $278 with a free charger. WalMart has a 15% bing Cash Back.

BestBuy is selling the 8gb ipod touch for $149 after $50 GC, see BEstBuy BF thread in Hot deals.

Amazon is 169.99 for 8gb 3rd gen if you use discover card which has (10 off 50) offer. I would say better than best buy/TRU/WalMart deal. Since no giftcards to bother and no upfront costs/taxes.
