I bought a portable DVD player from Costco and little over 2 months ago and now it's broken (not negligence on my part. It wasn't dropped or anything). I still have the receipt but don't have the packaging anymore. Will Costco allow me to do an exchange for the same item?

From the Costco.com site: The following must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund: televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones. That is the only restriction on returns. Take it in with your receipt and they should refund the item and you can repurchase if they still have any of that item.
IMHO, you should get in the habit of keeping all boxes and packaging material until the return, refund, exchange, and warranty periods have expired. You can tape a piece of paper with the "safe to discard" date on the box. It just makes life easier if/when there is a problem. Generally though, Cosco is superb in handling customer complaints, and clharrison's advice is right on the nose.

Thanks. I normally keep the boxes but we were in the middle of a move and it got accidentally thrown out. As an update, you gotta love Costco's return policy. They returned the DVD player sans packaging and owner's manual. Now, I think I'll hit up WalMart or toys r us for their cheap portable DVD player during BF.
Thanks for the update. I appreciate when folks come back and let us know how things worked out after posting threads asking for help. Doesn't happen often enough. Good luck with the next DVD player.
