I did the refilling route, and it worked out OK. I would do it in an area with some paper covering. You could also get refurb cartridges for a lot less. If you go the refilling route, note that the electronic module should be changed if you want the status information reported back to your computer. Otherwise you have to select Non-Dell toner in the printer's menu. Once they're in, I haven't had any leaking info.
