My friend who works with a company that deals with bing Cash Back told me last night an announcement was being made and just 30 minutes ago told me that BCB is ending July 31st.
Customer service will be up for another year and all sales by July 31st are still good for Cash Back.
Anyone else hear otherwise as this was just made official maybe an hour ago?
I'm not surprised. I stopped using bing a couple weeks ago because, shortly before they were due to be paid out, they inexplicably changed the "purchase date" of a couple of my large purchases to a date about a month further away. The customer service gave me some nonsensical "reasons" for doing so, but it really came down to delaying the Cash Back payment. If they're in such a dire financial condition that they need to delay paying me 1k, then they can't be doing well.
We are writing to notify you that the Bing CashBack program will be discontinued, and the last day to earn Cash Back on your Bing Shopping purchases will be July 30, 2010.

Half baked or not they paid me several thousand dollars. Hate to see it go.
This is really sorry news for me. The last two Christmases have been might merry just because of BCB. It just won't be the same this holiday season.

Been screwed so many times by bing all I can say is good riddance. Every time I'd tell myself I'd never use them again only to get suckered by an extra 2-3% that was always hit or miss. Just got screwed again on a large purchase at REI. *Never* had a problem with FatCash or ebates. Sure, bing was good to all of us in the early days but with inept / unreliable CB tracking it was destined to fail once the marketing budget ran out.

^got paid on every CashBack I've done with M$, even when I didn't, I emailed them and within a week received my CashBack. You must be doing something wrong.
Personally I always felt that BCB was part of a secret govt program to help funnel money into the economy. Now that govts are running out of money, no BCB.
Look for a rash of purchases for July 4th sales. Last opportunity.

Not doing anything wrong. Bing has major tracking issues. For example, I just bought $3K of stuff from REI. I used bing because they offered 6% vs. 3% for FatCash. I was careful not to use a coupon in the purchase with bing because they will cancel Cash Back (YMMV, but in my experience bing will use any excuse they can they can to cancel Cash Back). After doing the $3K purchase via bing I wanted to purchase an item with a coupon so I used FatCash. I closed my browser and started a new session. What happened? Bing didn't give me Cash Back on the $3K purchase. They gave me Cash Back on the $100 purchase I did with FatCash. I also see FatCash for the purchase. Bing tracking is totally f'ed up in my experience.

Just checked my CB account....just short of $4k that I've "saved" over the years since the wonderful 35% CB that heralded the magnificent birth of MS Cash-Back.
[soft music in the background]
The last 2 years have been the happiest of my life....all the memories....all the Drama. FatherTed teaching us the finer points of working the system and getting 10's of thousands of dollars back...everybody ganging up on FatherTed...FatherTed apologizing.....and then doing it again. Mekas keeping everyone on track and starting the new thread....and the miles and miles of forever stamps!
*sniff*
That original thread should be bronzed and given immortal status on FB.

Of course, as my wife likes to point out, I never would have spent the amount of money needed to "save" $4k if this program didn't exist. At this point I don't point out our large-screen HDTV, two iTouchs, and various other goodies that we got from the deal. I don't like to fight. :-P
Any wagers on how much Bing's search share will drop after this? I bet they'll drop into single digits. Even after all the $Millions Microsoft spent marketing Bing, they're still a minor player.

Hmm, so I wonder how this will effect orders at places like DeepDiscount where they ship items as they come into stock? During the current 25% sale they are OOS of many items and I can forsee them not shipping until after July 30th.
First, I never once believed this would last as long as it did! I loaded up when the 30+% was going strong for the first 2-3 months and have continued to use it until now. I sincerely believed this would end in 2008 sometime and am still shocked they threw money at it this long.
Secondly, I really think this will deal a serious blow to eBay. I have no idea how much of their sales are propped up by BCB but I can tell you that almost all of the purchases I have made these past two years (approx $20,000) on eBay have been because of BCB. Had that not been a part of the price, I could do better from other etailers. I suspect Newegg and others will those dollars in the future.
Very good for Fat Wallet CashBack. While FW hasn't had the real high percentages of BCB, FW has been more reliable and will get after stores better than Bing has been lately.

When I just posted, my thoughts were remembering those 'Good 'ole days'.
If Bing CashBack was available too...oh my God! Hidden rebates, any website to BVG AND Cash Back; so many more deals we would have gotten paid to get a product!
