What about the purchase Rewards on buying ink? It was 20% last time.

Please correct me if something is wrong with my plan:

Buy $100 HP Ink Carts
Recycle 20 Carts
Use 25 off 100 Staples Coupon

Total Paid ~ $75

I will get:

$100 on Staples Rewards
$15 in HP Gas Card Rebate
? $10 in Purchase Rewards ?

Total profit: $25+$15+?$10 = $50

Ink rewards are only 10% of POST COUPON USE, so $7.50.
plus cost of coupon eats into your profit a little too.

So a better plan would be to buy only $60 HP Ink cart and recycle 20 Carts.

and get:

$40 ($100-$60) + $6.00 (Purchase Rewards)= $46 before Tax

I hadn't decided whether to do this deal again so thanks for the break down. Without a coupon I see:
Spend $75 on ink get $100 ink recycling + $15 gas card + $7.50 ink purchase Rewards => $122.50 - $75 = $47.50
vs.
$46

So for higher oop and doing the work of submitting the MIR (not to mention the $0.44 postage) only come out ahead $1.50-- really $1.04. Not worth it-- unless you really need ink.

I don't know what you're trying to say here. If you buy $60 in ink...

You get $60 more in rewards for the ink carts. ($100 vs. the now usual $40).
You get $6 more in ink rewards (10%)
A slight profit.

You can tack on $15 more in ink of you want and get the $15 gas card. A wash.

Tack on an additional $25 in ink (or anything else) purchase and use a $25 off $100 coupon.

Take you pick. Still the same overall profit just about, just more ink with each stage.
I actually use the ink rather than sell it so a good deal for me.

Just a word of caution to anyone buying ink for the HP promo - not all HP ink packs are eligible for $15 rebate.
HP rebate PDF has a list of eligible SKUs on pages 3 and 4 - be sure to buy only those packs.

I bought the 56, 56, 57 combo pack which is $79.99 in store but not on the list of eligible SKUs for HP $15 rebate promo.

Thanks for clearing that...........in the nutshell, you make almost the same profit BUT you get more ink for more OOP cost.
Since I also actually use the ink in my HP Printer I will go for the highest option:
Buy $100 in HP Ink Cart.
Recycle 20 carts
Use 25 off 100 coupon
Submit $15 HP Rebate
Get $7.5 (10%) Purchase Rewards
Still make around $46 before Tax.

Off topic but!

For those of you who did the free after gift card Backpack deal,

the staplesrebates.com site now shows the gift card as being mailed! be on the lookout for yours.

was there a mailer that went out on this promotion? I missed it CRAP!

Not sure if there was a mailer but it was in the ad.

If you can wait, another recycle/HP ink deal starts on 09/05 which should be effective for both September and October (well at least two days of October).

Staples $5 rewards per cart recycled when spend at least $59 on HP ink the same day (9/5-10/02)

My B&M purchase from 8/15 is not in my Rewards account yet. I don't expect the recycle reward to be there, but not the ink purchase, either. Anyone else with this issue?

No, mine is showing but oddly it is showing 10 limit for recycling despite being a premier rewards member:
Item No. 725137 INK RECYCLING LIMIT 10/MONTH

That's normal. That's just the "name" for item 725137.

Thanks.
My usual $40 rewards are showing in my account without the additional $60 for the promo....Is that normal too...

Bonus rewards are not supposed to show up online. I don't know if the standard rewards associated with bonus rewards are supposed to show up online. For the bonus deal in June, no rewards appeared in my online account, but the reward check was issued correctly.

Yes. Bonus/special rewards only show up only when the reward has been awarded and only then in the reward check itself not in the other parts of the reward site like "Rewards Detail".

As to the recycling , what do you have under "My Ink Recycling Rewards: Monthly Ink Recycling Summary". For premier members who recycled 20 carts, it should look something like:

Date // Qty. Credited // Recycled Cartridge Type // Rewards Earned
8/nn/2010 // 20 // $2 ink & toner // $40.00

Ink rewards for August including this offer are available to print from the rewards accounts apparently for both standard and premier members.

My same day online purchase (early AM) and in-store recycle has been awarded automatically and correctly.

My ink reward statement shows "17" cartridges, but the $100 amount is correct.

My $20 monthly reward is split into two $10 coupons. Strange.

Strange that my "Total Ink Cartridges Credited" was showing zero, but my August rewards for ink was correct: $100 ink recycling, plus $6 (10%). Also got $21.98 for 2 HP reams.

Didn't get reward for PNY flash drive. Had to call SER and they'll send a check for $9 in the mail.

Same here. My purchase rewards checks were for $20.00 and $20.75. And at least for me the split between the checks appears completely arbitrary since the FARewards reams were purchased for $16.99 and $17.49 (the special event amount).

..............................Ink and Toner....Paper.....Copy and Print.....Special Events.....Total
Qual. Purchase.......$62.97..............$18.95....$0.00 ...................$34.48................$116.40
Rewards.................$6.30................$1.90 .....$0.00...................$34.48.................$42.68
