I don't really know if I'd bite on these. Lots of fakes going around and at this price, I'd be leery. I bought fake bluetooth Motorola headsets from Buy.com in the past. Not from a partner either, right from Buy.com themselves. The flood of fakes from China is making it impossible for even the legit sellers to not get duped.

PS, on Buy.com's page for this item, Chris from VT echos my sentiments. He bought the product and it's not the same item as his known authentic pair. That's really the only way to know for sure if the item you have is a fake.

Sennheiser told me most on eBay are fake, and that they shut down hundreds of auctions per week. They also said Amazon sellers sell fakes.

I checked fakeheadphones.com and did not see any info on the MX400's but then I found this link from ebay which describes how to spot fake MX400's as well as others.

A nice deal , i'd like buy one !

buy.red is a reputable seller

Hope these are better than the cx200 deal a few days ago. Those went from the box, into the trash because they scratched my ears. Their customer support emailed me to ask how much I paid for them, and where I got them. Then they never bothered to respond to any more emails either Because of this Sennheiser gets -50pts in my book. Hope everyone else has a better experience.

I highly doubt that Buy.com would sell fake product.

Most of these small electronic products are generic and made in China. American firms import them, put on their on lable, and double the price. I've bought several items directly from HK on eBay and received the exact same product as American lable at fraction of price.

I bought the MX400 off Buy.com a week or 2 ago. In my opinion, don't get it. Not worth the $8 it cost. It could be fake, but I don't know. Sound quality okay for the normal user. Did not come with a case and I think it was design for big ear only. I don't know what size I usually wear but it is too big for me. I'm probably have between a small and medium size ear.

Sounds like fakes to me. I've owned these headphones and I always considered them to have good sound for the price.

CELO said: I highly doubt that Buy.com would sell fake product. I doubt they would knowingly sell fakes, but who knows where they got these from? Retailers get products from multiple suppliers and the company that supplied these to Buy.com could have bought fakes, knowingly or unknowingly. Some OEM products are sold by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging (e.g., hard drives, CPUs, etc.). Does Sennheiser sell OEM products? If not, then where exactly did these come from?

The problem is you can get some that have none of those issues, and everything looks identical, even the 100% of the packaging, but still be fake. I'd bet they use these guides to help make better fakes.

They were pretty selfish with me too. See my post here.

You can only fake so much before it becomes cost-prohibitive. That's probably why a lot of the fakes don't come with the accessories.

Not all things made in China are created equal. China is a large country with countless factories and rampant forgery. It's not uncommon for two similar items to be manufactured using different quality parts or different levels of quality control, made in factories right next to each other. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if some factories sell both genuine branded merchandise and grey market fakes.

I recently bought a video camera on eBay from China for $0.98 lol. It works great although the instructions are hard to read
