Office Depot FAR software beginning 08/22/2010 and continuing 08/29/2010 including Peachtree Pro 2011

UPDATE for the week of 08/29/2010

No new FAR titles for the week of 08/29/2010. All of the rebates from last week continue this week (same rebates, can not do again) except Norton Utilities which falls off the list.

Four new FAR titles for the week beginning 08/22/2010: BitDefender Total Security 2010 Value Edition; Corel Family Pack 2009; McAfee Total Protection 2010, For 1 User; and Sage Peachtree Pro Accounting 2011.

iolo System Mechanic 08 and Norton Utilities are advertised this week as well but the upgrade rebates for these titles are CONTINUING (*).

Please be careful with the two Webroot titles. While they are advertised as FAR, their respective rebates may or may not add up to FAR. Also, each title has the same upgrade rebate and standard rebate and the standard rebate has been continuning since 05/01/2009. The shared Webroot rebates are limit one, not limit one per title.

****ALERT ON MCAFEE REBATES****

It has been reported on SD that McAfee through its rebate processor, Parago, has started to enforce a one per product restriction on its rebates. Until this is sorted out, submitting more than one rebate per product is not advised even if the rebate has a different rebate number and different offer period. The rebate invalidation message has been reported as "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process".

++ Mcafee rebates generally can be pre-submitted at www.mcafeerebates.com

Sage Peachtree Pro Accounting 2011 [505509] $164.99 link
**** Once again, there is confusion in the ad between the product name (2010) and product sku (2011) and in the rebate form between the large print (2010) and fine print (2011). If I had to guess, the rebate is for the 2011 version.
**** While I was expecting that the rebate form at rebateshq would settle whether this rebate is for the 2010 or 2011 version, the rebate form there has 2010 in large print and 2011 in the fine print. So, it is down to what prints out at the cash register when one version or the other is purchased in-store.

++ Regarding the term: Only one (1) rebate form may be processed per person, company, household, address, receipt or product version. To date, the per product version term (i.e. only one rebate submission allowed for Peachtree Pro 2011 across all rebates) has not been enforced.

INFORMATION ABOUT SUBMITTING A PEACHTREE PRO REBATE

What needs to be submitted?

---- completed rebate form: either the printed out pdf found on the store's rebate website or the pre-submission form generated at rebateshq.com
---- original UPC barcode cut/removed from the product box and attached to the rebate form
---- serial number, registration code and customer ID written on the rebate form
-------- The serial number can be found on the back side of the dvd case inside the product box and will be needed during the registration process.
-------- The registration code and customer ID will be generated during the registration process.
-------- The product can be registered by calling 1-800-936-7059 or online at www.peachtree.com -- under "Support & Training" select "Register Peachtree".
---- copy of the receipt (in-store) or original invoice (online)

The rebate terms state "This rebate is NOT eligible for online submission and must be mailed". Can this rebate be pre-submitted at rebateshq.com?

Yes. The rebate can be pre-submitted at rebateshq.com because "online submission" is not the same as "online pre-submission". "Online submission" is a submission process that is done completely online (e.g. Staples Easy Rebate system). The "online pre-submission" process at rebateshq.com generates a rebate form that needs to be printed out and mailed in with all the required proofs.

The pre-submission rebate form generated at rebateshq.com does not have designated places for the serial number, registration code and customer ID. Do these number need to be included?

Yes. Even though the online pre-submission generated rebate form does not have designated places for the serial number, registration code and customer ID, this information is still required. Somewhere on the pre-submission rebate form, write "Serial number" followed by the serial number, under that "Registration code" followed by the registration code, and under that "Customer ID" followed by the customer ID.

The main benefits of pre-submitting the rebate are having a rebate tracking number from the start and having your personal information correctly entered into the rebate processing system. It also makes the rebate processor's job easier as the processor only has to scan the rebate tracking number barcode instead of entering the personal information by hand.

What does the term "Only one (1) rebate form may be processed per person, company, household, address, receipt or per product version", especially the "per product version" part, mean?

No idea. There are those who argue that the terms of one rebate can not be enforced against the terms of another rebate. For the most part, this has held true with the odd outlier (e.g. a few Kasperky rebates a year or two ago). To date, no Peachtree Pro rebate has been invalidated on account of the "per product version" restriction. Past performance is no guarantee of future performance.

The customer ID generated this time is that same as the last time. Is this a problem?

No. The customer ID is linked to the Peachtree account. If this product is registered under the same account, the customer ID will be the same. The same customer ID on multiple different rebates (i.e. rebates with different rebate numbers) has not been, to date, a reason for a rebate to be invalidated.

This is a fairly high value rebate. Should I send it certified?

The rebate processing company for this rebate is Parago/rebateshq. As far as rebate processors go, they are fairly reasonable when it comes to allowing re-submissions to fix a flawed rebate. The lack of an original upc code on a re-submission of a lost mailing can be a problem.

My personal practice is to send any rebate valued at $100 or more via certified mail. If nothing else, the USPS might take more care with a certified letter.

Any final advice?

****ANOTHER ALERT ON MCAFEE REBATES****

This one concerns the title McAfee® Total Protection 2010, For 3 Users, rebate #1003-21821, with effective purchase dates of 05/30/2010 through 06/12/2010 at Office Depot:

..... McAfee® Total Protection 2010, For 3 Users [538407] $79.99 link
..... $60 standard rebate #1005-27683 link
..... ---- original UPC (731944587981)
..... $20 upgrade rebate #1003-21821 SAME AS LAST WEEKS link
..... ---- proof of previous ownership of a retail (boxed or downloaded), stand-alone version of any McAfee software product or any Norton® software, Computer Associates, Trend Micro, Webroot or any other comparable security product CD, diskette1, title page of manual, or your auction purchases, or academic offers.
..... ++ Mcafee rebates generally can be pre-submitted at www.mcafeerebates.com

While this rebate was initially noted as valid, it is possible it has been re-evaluated and is now invalid for purchase date.

What is quite shocking about this is that the rebate is invalid because the rebate number is now attached to a completely different product, time period and value: McAfee 2010 Internet Security 3 User at Office Depot with an offer period starting 06/13/2010 (from memory), and is worth $35. Here is what the rebate tracking returns:

..... Rebate: Variable Reward
..... Rebate Information For: <tracking number>
..... Promotion: $35 Mail In Rebate on McAfee 2010 Internet Security 3 User at Office Depot
..... Submission Type: <ON-LINE at least for me>
..... Date Received: <date received>
..... Status Detail: Invalid.
..... Invalid Reasons: Invalid Purchase Date

To resolve this problem, call the customer service line at 1-866-880-9644 [to speed through the voice mail system, try enter "1" for English, "4" for invalid, and "0" for CSR], tell the CSR the tracking number, let the CSR tell you why the rebate is invalid and then explain the situation: the rebate you submitted was for a different title and different offer period. If there is an issue have the CSR check the scanned in rebate submission. If necessary, ask to speak to a manager.

Anyone have what laptops will be on sale on 8/22/2010?

The ads for OD and Staples for next week are available on their respective web sites.

OD ad for Peachtree has a popup which states, "Upgrade Mail-In Savings offer good for current users. Proof of ownership required. See store for details." Is FAR only good for those who are upgrading?

Yet another misprint with this offer.

But to answer your question, the $165 rebate is a standard rebate -- not an upgrade rebate -- as shown by the rebate's required proofs.

Did anyone purchase the Peachtree 2011 recently from both Staples and OD? If so, are both of your rebates showing as valid? I'd love to buy the Peachtree once I receive my big Worklife Reward soon, but I don't want to risk $165.00 if the rebate will be rejected.

The last time Staples and OD both had Peachtree rebates at the same time i did them both and got paid for both. I am considering doing both again this time.

Did everyone receive their latest rewards from OD yet ? I have not and worried about it.

Thanks in advance.

I typically get them the last week of the second month after quarter close. So, that would be last week of August for me. Looking at other posts, some people seem to get them a little earlier and some people a little later. I'd wait 2-3 weeks before contacting them.

The last time Office Depot and Staples both offered Peachtree Pro at the same time was the week of 08/01/2010. I am pretty sure that no one has received payment yet for these rebates. According to a poster over on SD in a thread of the same name, the poster did both rebates and both are listed as "Your rebate is valid and is scheduled for final processing".

Only OD is offering another round of FAR Peachtree Pro the week of 08/22/2010 unless Staples is going to do it off advertisement.

haramkhor said: Did everyone receive their latest rewards from OD yet ? I have not and worried about it.
Why are you worried?

The OD Worklife Reward program's terms and conditions mentions the issuing of rewards twice:

OD WLR instance #1 said: Program Reward Periods are as follows:

You earn Rewards ................. You receive your Rewards
January 1 - March 31 ............. May 15 - 31
April 1 - June 30 .................... August 15 - 31
July 1 - September 30 ............ November 15 - 30
October 1 - December 31 ....... February 15 - 28

OD WLR instance #2 said: Rewards are issued as an Office Depot Reward Card. Office Depot reserves the right to issue Rewards in any form, including coupons or checks. Reward Cards are issued within 60 days after the end of each quarter and will be valid for 90 days after the date of issuance. No extensions or exchanges will be allowed for expired Reward Cards.
JamesTKirk above has pretty much summed up the the practical application of the when the rewards arrive.

When did you expect to receive the rewards?

I don't like the new Peachtree rebate that added "per product version"

I'm willing to wait and see how more daring gamblers makeout

latest by end of next week to turn some of them into cash by doing FAR. Thanks everybody

Regarding the Peachtree Pro rebate: While I was expecting that the rebate form at rebateshq would settle whether this rebate is for the 2010 or 2011 version, the rebate form there has 2010 in large print and 2011 in the fine print. So, it is down to what prints out at the cash register when one version or the other is purchased in-store.

I just received three postcards with the dreaded "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process." Has anyone been able to get these rebates approved? What have you tried that did, or did not, work?
I searched for posts that discuss this in detail but could find nothing that helped. Can someone point me to a relevant discussion?

Best discussion is over on SD in the thread "Office Depot FAR software beginning 07/11/2010 and continuing 07/18/2010" starting with post #40. Does go on for a bit. The summary is that no one is having any luck and some have reached the final step of beginning their small claims court cases.

That will be interesting. The rebate form does seem to side with Mcafee.

I'm willing to wait and see how more daring gamblers makeout
with more than one rebate.....I can't see rolling the dice
with $165......No Vegas here thanks.

That may not work. They may decide to enforce it right after you think it's safe. Trapping the biggest number of people.

I have yet to be caught up in the McAfee rebate problem so I do not know all the ins and outs but I believe the hope is that either upon being served notice McAfee pays up or McAfee fails to appear in small claims court and a default judgment (?) is entered against McAfee.

Not to start the topic up again..but not too sure how you could come to that conclusion. Simple fact of the matter is every other rebate offer has a time limit (i.e. "Promotion number 123 offer is good for purchases from x day to day z" ). It is silly and not logical for them to assume the consumer should think that Mcafee's offers are in essence, one product per lifetime, esp. since difference promotion numbers and dates are involved.

can't you just say you died and were reincarnated since the last version, thus new lifetime? Put your name down as Shirley MacLaine or something.

OP has been updated for the week beginning 08/29/2010.

these are a way of changing rewards to depositable money. ^_^ (I'm wary of Webroot rebates though)

Webroot rebates are fine if you have not done the specific rebates before.

It's just with the multi-product rebates its difficult to know unless good records are kept.

Looking for OD coupon to combine FAR to cover sales tax. Thx

There is no current OD coupon that is valid on software that I know of anyway.

Office Max is running their 20% off bag promo in the Northeast on 8/29 (is Sun paper inserts).

Exactly. And it's a well settled principle of contract law that ambiguities are construed against the drafter. You can't write up a contract with a vague "one rebate per person" and then rely on it as a catch all phrase to deny any rebates from different promotions with no notice.

Peachtree 2011 seems to have gone up in price to $199.99.

For whatever reason, the $35 instant rebate is not effective online this week or at least it has not been since yesterday.

If it was not effective earlier in the week, maybe it will be effective next week.

Just received this afternoon my Worklife Rewards card of $960.xx for 4/01-06/30. FAR Peachtree in my next week's circular appears a good candidate for cashing out my Worklife Rewards card. Looks like I have a few OMX $15/$50 in-store coupons to use.

It looks like the McAfee rebates cannot be pre-submitted online. The offer numbers 1007-3225x are not even the typical Parago offer numbers 10-12345.

Actually, McAfee rebate numbers from at least OD have been in the nnnn-nnnnn format for several years.

See attached.

Just put in the coupon code. It will tell you to add the item.

Does the Office Depot Reward Card cover taxes like the Staples Card does?

BTW, these are all *USED* rental DVDs, and one of them is heavily scratched.
