Office Depot FAR software beginning 08/22/2010 and continuing 08/29/2010 including Peachtree Pro 2011 UPDATE for the week of 08/29/2010
No new FAR titles for the week of 08/29/2010. All of the rebates from last week continue this week (same rebates, can not do again) except Norton Utilities which falls off the list. Four new FAR titles for the week beginning 08/22/2010: BitDefender Total Security 2010 Value Edition; Corel Family Pack 2009; McAfee Total Protection 2010, For 1 User; and Sage Peachtree Pro Accounting 2011. iolo System Mechanic 08 and Norton Utilities are advertised this week as well but the upgrade rebates for these titles are CONTINUING (*). Please be careful with the two Webroot titles. While they are advertised as FAR, their respective rebates may or may not add up to FAR. Also, each title has the same upgrade rebate and standard rebate and the standard rebate has been continuning since 05/01/2009. The shared Webroot rebates are limit one, not limit one per title. ****ALERT ON MCAFEE REBATES****
It has been reported on SD that McAfee through its rebate processor, Parago, has started to enforce a one per product restriction on its rebates. Until this is sorted out, submitting more than one rebate per product is not advised even if the rebate has a different rebate number and different offer period. The rebate invalidation message has been reported as "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process". If I had to guess, the rebate is for the 2011 version. **** While I was expecting that the rebate form at rebateshq would settle whether this rebate is for the 2010 or 2011 version, the rebate form there has 2010 in large print and 2011 in the fine print. So, it is down to what prints out at the cash register when one version or the other is purchased in-store. $165 standard rebate #10-32841 link --- rebate valid from 08/22/2010 through 09/04/2010 --- REBATE REQUIRES THE PRODUCT TO BE REGISTERED: You can register by calling 1-800-936-7059 or online at www.peachtree.com under "Support & Training" select "Register Peachtree". --- Attach the original UPC barcode to the rebate form. --- Write the serial number, registration number and customer ID on the rebate form. The registration number and customer ID are generated during the registration process. --- Include a copy of the receipt (in-store) or an original invoice (online/phone). ++ Peachtree rebates generally can be pre-submitted at www.rebateshq.com ++ Regarding the term: Only one (1) rebate form may be processed per person, company, household, address, receipt or product version. * - CONTINUING = CONTINUING means the rebate did not begin in this time period so it is necessary to check your rebate log to determine whether you have done this rebate already. ---------------------------------------- INFORMATION ABOUT SUBMITTING A PEACHTREE PRO REBATE
What needs to be submitted? ---- completed rebate form: either the printed out pdf found on the store's rebate website or the pre-submission form generated at rebateshq.com ---- original UPC barcode cut/removed from the product box and attached to the rebate form ---- serial number, registration code and customer ID written on the rebate form -------- The serial number can be found on the back side of the dvd case inside the product box and will be needed during the registration process. -------- The registration code and customer ID will be generated during the registration process. -------- The product can be registered by calling 1-800-936-7059 or online at www.peachtree.com -- under "Support & Training" select "Register Peachtree". ---- copy of the receipt (in-store) or original invoice (online) The rebate terms state "This rebate is NOT eligible for online submission and must be mailed". Can this rebate be pre-submitted at rebateshq.com?
Yes. The rebate can be pre-submitted at rebateshq.com because "online submission" is not the same as "online pre-submission". "Online submission" is a submission process that is done completely online (e.g. Staples Easy Rebate system). The "online pre-submission" process at rebateshq.com generates a rebate form that needs to be printed out and mailed in with all the required proofs. The pre-submission rebate form generated at rebateshq.com does not have designated places for the serial number, registration code and customer ID. Do these number need to be included?
Yes. Even though the online pre-submission generated rebate form does not have designated places for the serial number, registration code and customer ID, this information is still required. Somewhere on the pre-submission rebate form, write "Serial number" followed by the serial number, under that "Registration code" followed by the registration code, and under that "Customer ID" followed by the customer ID. The main benefits of pre-submitting the rebate are having a rebate tracking number from the start and having your personal information correctly entered into the rebate processing system. It also makes the rebate processor's job easier as the processor only has to scan the rebate tracking number barcode instead of entering the personal information by hand. What does the term "Only one (1) rebate form may be processed per person, company, household, address, receipt or per product version", especially the "per product version" part, mean?
No idea. There are those who argue that the terms of one rebate can not be enforced against the terms of another rebate. For the most part, this has held true with the odd outlier (e.g. a few Kasperky rebates a year or two ago). To date, no Peachtree Pro rebate has been invalidated on account of the "per product version" restriction. Past performance is no guarantee of future performance. The customer ID generated this time is that same as the last time. Is this a problem?
No. The customer ID is linked to the Peachtree account. If this product is registered under the same account, the customer ID will be the same. The same customer ID on multiple different rebates (i.e. rebates with different rebate numbers) has not been, to date, a reason for a rebate to be invalidated. This is a fairly high value rebate. Should I send it certified?
The rebate processing company for this rebate is Parago/rebateshq. As far as rebate processors go, they are fairly reasonable when it comes to allowing re-submissions to fix a flawed rebate. The lack of an original upc code on a re-submission of a lost mailing can be a problem. My personal practice is to send any rebate valued at $100 or more via certified mail. If nothing else, the USPS might take more care with a certified letter. Any final advice?
