hmm..says "one per purchase"...does that mean that, theoretically, you can make a zillion copies of this and go to the store and clean them out, for free, buying each one individually?

I picked up two. The cashier checked with the manager when I only had to pay tax on the item. According to the cashier, a memo went out from corporate saying that coupons are not valid on sale items (Hammermill $2 off coupon in Sunday paper).
Lots of the dark colored labels, not so many of the ones I could actually use. I just got 2 pkgs w/ my Peachtree. Used 2 coupons. Plan to go back and get a few more along w/ some FASER stuff. Thought it would attract less attention than getting 6 at one time.

I can't see why Staples would not want to honor coupons since in theory they should be getting paid for them from the manufacturer. If Hammermill doesn't want people using their coupon on 50c AR paper at Staples, they should have arranged for Staples not to have the promotion the same week the coupon came out.

Nope. If you get 6 labels at once and use 6 coupons the cashier is going to look at the coupons wondering if they're legit. Cashier will call over a manager if they're unsure. Coupon says one per purchase. They may tell you that you can only use one even though it means that one coupon per pack of labels. Much easier to avoid potential hassles.
Coupon scans w/o any beeps and comes off automatically.

No, once the cashier gets spooked he will call the manager who will use his discretion to allow you to use the coupon or deny it................... and there is nothing on earth you can do about it as no amount of arguing will help and will just create a scene which I don't like to do. Moreover if you shop at that store often (as I do) I like to be on good terms with them. So your choice, avoid a "scene" by being "smart" about it as my4mainecoons did ( by buying the Avery Labels with the item he was going to buy anyway) or create a scene by arguing about the legitimacy of a coupon.

I attempted to get mine along with the hammermill and a couple other small items. The issue was the one per transaction, so I ended up doing multiple transactions of just the labels. I dont think the clearing house for coupons is going to go and investigate the transactions, so i think its ridiculous to have to split, but to appease them, and I guess they were also appeasing me.
If you are a reg customer and they value your business then youd think that they wouldn't give a a hard time and it isnt necessary for you act differently. I do agree on your points, however all you should have to do is tell them to go to the avery website and see for themselves. I'm pretty sure Staples has internet.
Yes, if they don't on the front registers take a cashier or manager over to the computer section and pull up the website on the computers they are selling. that way they will know it is there and know that you can print multiple coupons as well.
Funny thing is my Staples has always said that they don't have internet access. One day I was shipping UPS and had an address wrong. Address was in my gmail so clerk brought me to a demo pc and let me look it up. The next time I was in the store and needed coupon code from an email (thought coupon was in-store as well) the asst. manager said they didn't have access and I'd have to go home, look it up and come back. I told him that I'd been able to get online in store previously. He told clerk to just give me the coupon value using a different store coupon code from their book Compare to this to another Staples location where I was looking for a camera battery. Staples didn't have it but clerk looked it up for me on line to see where I could get it.
Bought 2 packs but the cashier would only let me use 1 coupon, oh well. I also saw sighs for those normally ~$50 - $60 package of name badges, marked down to clearance for $4.50. My store was out of them, not sure if they were the ones that momoman saw.
Also, were some Brookstone earbuds/headphones that were 90% off, so just $1.5 and $2.4, but those were all gone too.
