thanks, b/c it would be as a reference only device for a location in a public center and want to make sure that it has no way for anyone to get any virus in there. So I was thinking to lock the USB ports and disable the wifi.
The wifi is on a mini pci card. You can unplug the antenna wires and pull the card.
Then you can use the mini pci slot for anything else you can find thats small enough to fit in there. A broadcom video decoder and I believe some 1.8" SSD's might fit and be useful.
I have ordered and received one of these from renovate. Actually thiswas my post in May. The Revo arrived in great condition. Still had original stickers. All files (manual, etc) are preloaded on the Revo. One tip that took me a while to notice, the usb RF receiver for the mouse and keyboard is located under the battery door of the mouse.
I am using it with Win 7 Media Center as a live TV PVR. I have an ATI/Diamond HD750USB tuner and a Mygica U6012A tuner. Both are hybrid tuners because I have analog cable. It works great, but Media Center has quirks with 2 tuners and "low bit rate" & "no tuner found" messages.
my advice, instead of uninstalling all the bloadware, to just blow it out and install an OEM Version of Windows.. will take much less time... all you need is a 4GB USB stick, and a Windows OEM ISO (torrent sites).. the license key is on the back of the device. Microsoft will want you to call in and verify, but it takes 5 mins.
this has a lot of stuff that i found useful: http://www.pauljroberts.com/my-personal-revo-3610-set-up-that-works-well and he updates it relatively regularly
I have it attached to TV.. It's great for movie watching through WMC or Boxee. WMC allows you to record OTA channels.. You'll need a tuner like HDHomeRun to do that.. Netflix works OK, but I don't really watch it.. for me HD content still stutters, and SD doesn't look good on my TV.
It's not great for surfing if attached to a TV.. that's not what TVs are for.

I bought one a few months ago to use as a media player. Works really well, no stuttering on Hulu or Netflix. 720p MKV was great, haven't tried a 1080p MKV yet.
I used this guy's instructions to get it to minimal install: http://www.pauljroberts.com/my-personal-revo-3610-set-up-that-works-well
I use one w/my tv too. Homerun tuner, 720p, WMC, Hulu Desktop and Boxee. No troubles. It's very cool and quiet! We're replacing the TiVo with it. I paid full price @Amazon ($329) and consider it a good deal.
This is nice for running windows media center, or other streaming video apps. Starting apps (firefox, WMC) could be a bit slow, but once it comes up, the speed is acceptable.
Was ready to pull the trigger, but the total came to $260 with tax and shipping, even after coupon. Still thinking, I guess it is better than $329 full price.
That's funny, last week there were about 24 at this price. After they posted the coupon code, they're all gone. eb@y affect?

Man I got PC but HDMI and eSATA port was shrink and outline was uneven. I open ticket with REVONATE guys. They are covering shipping and I will get replacement in next week. Let see how that goes.
received it about a month ago but didn't have the time to test drive this thing until last night. Took some time to remove all the bloatware and it seems to run the HD files well. Thank you OP!
