iolo System Mechanic 8 and Serif WebPlus X4 are advertised as FAR this week as well but at least one of the rebates for these titles is CONTINUING (*).

With the release of the 2011 versions of the McAfee titles, it should be safe to purchase for rebate purposes again subject to the limit of one per title.

****ALERT ON MCAFEE REBATES****

It has been reported on SD that McAfee through its rebate processor, Parago, has started to enforce a one per product restriction on its rebates. Until this is sorted out, submitting more than one rebate per product is not advised even if the rebate has a different rebate number and different offer period. The rebate invalidation message has been reported as "Your rebate request did not pass our audit process".

----------------------------------------

****ANOTHER ALERT ON MCAFEE REBATES****

This one concerns the title McAfee® Total Protection 2010, For 3 Users, rebate #1003-21821, with effective purchase dates of 05/30/2010 through 06/12/2010 at Office Depot:

..... McAfee® Total Protection 2010, For 3 Users [538407] $79.99 link
..... $60 standard rebate #1005-27683 link
..... ---- original UPC (731944587981)
..... $20 upgrade rebate #1003-21821 SAME AS LAST WEEKS link
..... ---- proof of previous ownership of a retail (boxed or downloaded), stand-alone version of any McAfee software product or any Norton® software, Computer Associates, Trend Micro, Webroot or any other comparable security product CD, diskette1, title page of manual, or your auction purchases, or academic offers.
..... ++ Mcafee rebates generally can be pre-submitted at www.mcafeerebates.com

While this rebate was initially noted as valid, it is possible it has been re-evaluated and is now invalid for purchase date.

What is quite shocking about this is that the rebate is invalid because the rebate number is now attached to a completely different product, time period and value: McAfee 2010 Internet Security 3 User at Office Depot with an offer period starting 06/13/2010 (from memory), and is worth $35. Here is what the rebate tracking returns:

..... Rebate: Variable Reward
..... Rebate Information For: <tracking number>
..... Promotion: $35 Mail In Rebate on McAfee 2010 Internet Security 3 User at Office Depot
..... Submission Type: <ON-LINE at least for me>
..... Date Received: <date received>
..... Status Detail: Invalid.
..... Invalid Reasons: Invalid Purchase Date

To resolve this problem, call the customer service line at 1-866-880-9644 [to speed through the voice mail system, try enter "1" for English, "4" for invalid, and "0" for CSR], tell the CSR the tracking number, let the CSR tell you why the rebate is invalid and then explain the situation: the rebate you submitted was for a different title and different offer period. If there is an issue have the CSR check the scanned in rebate submission. If necessary, ask to speak to a manager.

thanks as always BPVH. appreciate your OD posts.

Thanks bvph. Really useful reminder to cash worklife rewards.

Pretty stiff requirements on the logo design. Been looking for some free software.

Does Anyone know when OD mails the jul-sep wl rewards?? I'm waiting on $180 and this would be perfect for it!

The Serif title changed from new to continuing and during the update as I was trying to get out of town I missed changing six to five.

don't forget about Kaspersky. Make $10 AR+AR

prikindel said: don't forget about Kaspersky. Make $10 AR+AR
Which Kaspersky title is FAR for the week beginning 10/24?

Kasperky Internet Security 2011 3 user [313413] was FAR through 10/23 ....

prikindel said: Make $10 AR+AR

Doesn't even make sense.

I could use the 4000 fonts, but I don't have the competing product to qualify for the rebate.

my store only allows 1 coupon per person regardless of what it says.

bpvh said: UPDATE 10/29/2010: There are reports that the coupon may no longer work on sale and FAR items.

UPDATE 10/30/2010: Coupon below worked without override today on BitDefender Total Security 2011 For 3 PCs/2 Years and Norton™ Online Backup.
I used the coupon 3 times today. It beeped for the Marketing & Small Business Advantage program ($39.99) but worked fine for Norton Online Backup ($49.99) and Bitdefender ($89.99). Only thing I can imagine is they changed it to require a $40 purchase, or maybe they are trying (unsuccessfully) to block the sale stuff as you stated. I prefer to go with the changed minimum purchase, but I can't say conclusively.

When I initially bought the Bitdefender program, the rebate forms did not print out. I went back to the shelf and found the sale sign and then noticed that I had purchased the 2010 version, which had been sitting on the shelf (no 2011 edition there). The register even charged me $89.99 for it! So I had to go have someone find me a copy in the back and did an even exchange and got my rebate forms. When he returned it, the register made him put a clearance sticker on it. Amazing that it didn't stop him from selling it to me at full price in the first place!

The purchase minimum has not been changed. Coupon worked fine on a $24.99 purchase.

bpvh said: The purchase minimum has not been changed. Coupon worked fine on a $24.99 purchase.OK. Well it did not work on my $39.99 purchase today, but I don't know why.

Thanks bpvf. My Norton 2010 Internet Security just ended Friday and, unlike what I remember from other security programs, it just stopped working, firewall and all. I though they use to just stop updating, not completely leave you naked. Anyway, in Reno at least, the $10 off coupon worked on the Norton Internet Security 2011. So after rebates, my cost was just sales tax. That's why I love Fat Wallet. Thanks.

There is definitely some issue with the Marketing & Small Business Advantage title and the coupon. There was a report on it over on SD that caused me to think that maybe the coupon was no longer valid on any FAR title. Thankfully that is not the case.

Were there any other single rebate deals and if so were they working with the coupon?

Logo Studio and 4000 Fonts have only one rebate but the titles do have "instant savings".

CA PC Tune-Up Plus 2.0 3 User has only one rebate.

I did not try the coupon on any of the three.

One other difference between the BitDefender and Norton titles and Marketing & Small Business Advantage is that the rebate for Marketing & Small Business Advantage is processed by OD's rebate processor.

Another fail report for the Marketing & Small Business Advantage with the coupon. The cashier first told me coupon wasn't valid on tech,... then told me software wasn't tech, tried anyway and it wouldn't take it off.

My cashier asked and was told to enter it as a code 9999, which is what they use for competitors coupons.

And yes, coupon did not worked for Marketing & small Business, but cashier pushed through after asking manager who okayed it after verifying the coupon.

Worked for me (with override).

Any easy way to qualify for upgrade rebate for the following software? I am specially interested for Logo Design.

Where is the Rebate Tracking Forum? I do not see it anymore! When did it gone?

$30 instant rebate
$50 standard rebate #602-2 link
---- original or photocopy of the UPC code (8-18881-00998-8)

Maybe Rebate Company Information.

My rebate for Norton Utilities #10-37665 was invalid by Rebate Center due to invalid UPC.

The UPC on my box is 037648857338. The rebate form was printed from the store cash register. I called the rebate center but they refused to make it valid. They said the correct UPC should be 037648857277. They told me to contact Office Depot.

Has anyone submitted this rebate and got it valid. If yes, what's the UPC you submitted?
