Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm waiting for a BF deal on a BluRay player with wifi because:
-Can stream the same video, like the Roku does -will also have usb input to play music and videos from a thumb drive -obviously will have BluRay/DVD/CD playing capability

I'm hoping to pay $129 to $99 for this...
.
Some blu-rays will stream Netflix, not the 100+ and growing channels that Roku offers. Also a Roku is pretty much instant on..

For California it is $91.xx after shipping and tax. Not great. I am sure more deals are on the way.

Thanks! This finally made me pull the trigger on a Roku. $84.98 shipped to IL (no tax).
Roku is licensing their software now, so it's just a matter of time until we see a Bluray player with Roku software built it. That would be the ideal living room solution.

I've actually been fairly frustrated with that. My Roku seems to go incredibly slowly in terms of loading the channels, even the official Roku ones. I don't think it's the connection: It indicates a full signal and streams HD Amazon and from my desktop with no problems. It's certainly much slower than my blu-ray player in terms of starting a Netflix rental.
I'm not saying it's not worth getting, particularly if you can hack the Play On, but I have been disappointed by how slow it is.

What is the distinguishing feature with the XDS that makes it worth $20 more than the XD (on Amazon)?

"Dual band wireless" -- do I need that?
The XDS also has a usb port and digital optical audio output.
I got a Roku earlier this week as a gift, it's pretty cool, but I'm a bit disappointed over a few things. My freind has an Apple TV unit, running Boxee (I think) his graphics are way cooler than the Roku. Also has music playing appp has many more features. In fact the Roku doesn't come with an app to play media off of your separate server/computer. There is a way to do that, but it's a bit involved. I actually returned the Roku, it was a XD and I want the XDS for its higher quality audio, but currently Amazon is OOS on the XDS. While I wait for it I may look around and check out some of the other units.

Wired is the only way to go with these type of media players. Too many buffering and hiccup problems with wireless, even dualband wireless N.
I've used wireless for 6 months on my Roku XD with no problems ever. Only once when my internet went out and the Netflix video still played for another ~min or so, it must have a decent buffer built in. Once Netflix or other Roku channels get more HD content, I imagine a good/faster wireless connection will become more critical
Real-time streaming / Live-broadcasting (not buffered capable streaming, such as Netflix) may suffer from Wireless connectivity. Toatlly agree with "mewannaxbox" regarding having wired access to Roku if you got such Live content.
For example - when we use Megapack Telugu, which streams Zee-tv, Maa-tv, and E-tv (ethnic Indian/Asian channels), wireless is hopeless, even when my N-wireless router right next to Roku. While, 50 foot away, with a door-behind, Netflix streams just fine with Wireless.
We ended up going the wired-route., now no more hiccups on live-streaming ..
Follow up... Mine has already arrived! Got it hooked up, updated and running within 15-20 minutes (that's for everything). Wireless is working well. Streams seem good. Liking it so far!
