Sorry for asking the obvious question...but will we be out of sales tax paid on this purchase? Could be huge considering the total amount.

If sales tax is charged in your state, absolutely.

I haven't done any FAR since getting those free laptops from Staples after buying tons of software...so if you use a coupon will the rebate amount get deducted from the coupon? thanks in advance

Most rebate terms do not limit rebate payouts to no more than purchase price.

For most of the rebates that do have such a limit, the limit is done on an individual rebate basis so for those titles that have more than one rebate, a coupon will usually not have reduced the purchase price below the individual rebate value. I have not heard of any rebate payouts being reduced for this reason recently.

For the few rebates whose terms do limit rebate payouts on a combined basis (i.e. McAfee), it seems that the rebate processor is not enforcing the term.

So, after not having done OD rebates for a while, I bought some stuff recently because of the $10 off tech coupon. Got a rejection notice in the mail today for the Business & Marketing Advantage program. They claimed I bought it outside of the rebate period, which was a good trick since I submitted the form printed at the register. I called and they told me I had purchased it on 11/30. Amusingly, my postmark date was before that. Before I could say much the rep said "oh, I looked at the receipt, it's 10/30". She fixed it and when I pointed out that they have a habit of incorrectly rejecting rebates she said "just human error". She apologized but couldn't give me a good answer for why they tend to have more errors that other rebate houses. Reminds me why I hate the YA rebate center so much.

thanks nice work gotta take time to figure which ones will work for me! thumbs up green for you

OP UPDATE 2010/12/14:

The upgrade rebate for iolo System Mechanic PC TotalCare is now on Office Depot's rebate website. Unfortunately, according to the rebate forms, both rebates require the same two proofs.

iolo System Mechanic PC TotalCare® [314637] $59.99 link
++ According to the rebate forms, both rebates require the original proof of purchase seal and a copy of the UPC code. This is most likely an error. iolo standard rebates usually require original pop seal and copy of upc code while iolo upgrade rebates usually require the original upc code.
$30 combined rebate #10-37566 link
--- rebate valid from 12/12/2010 through 04/16/2010
--- must purchase both products on the same receipt to qualify
--- original proof of purchase seal
--- copy of UPC code
--- tax software or tax forms on receipt
--- copy of receipt
$30 upgrade rebate #10-37688 link
--- rebate valid from 12/12/2010 through 04/16/2010
--- original proof of purchase seal
--- copy of UPC code
--- copy of receipt
--- proof of previous ownership:
------ Valid for previous owners of Norton 360™, Avanquest System Suite™, Avanquest Fix-It Utilities™, Defender Pro 5-in-1™, Defender Pro 15-in-1™ or any product from iolo.

Edit: Nevermind...the order email does list the order date. I need my eyes checked!

roy7736 said:   For the continuing Norton Internet Security™ 2011/Norton Utilities™ Premier Bundle upgrade rebate # 10-37632, in the past there has always been a hidden limit of 3 for Norton upgrade rebates, so hopefully that will be the case with this rebate too.

hidden limit? if i remember correctly, all these forms usually state "one rebate per..."
so if they decide not to pay for my 2nd or 3rd rebate submissions, there's no way to argue eh?

Go from FAR to moneymaker with this $20 off $100 coupon: 19488614 (credit to xInc at SD).

Added to the Quick Summary.

62825850 is another $20 off $100 coupon that works on tech. (Found on retailmenot.) Don't know if you can stack with the other one.

No stacking for me.

Can the dollar off coupons be used more than one time in store? I know they are one time use per account online, but I don't know about B&M.

As many times as the cashier will accept.

One complicating factor is that most of the combined rebates require a tax item purchase on the same receipt.

A couple more coupons that may be useful to some:
$15 off $75 (with limited tech): 11220262
$10 off $50 (with limited tech): 12912412
Both expire 1/22/11.

I wonder how many people are actually using the tax software itself, because if these were really good, lots of (tax)accountants would be in dire straits.

I've been using TurboTax since 1992.

This year, 47 percent of consumers intend to file their federal taxes online.

Among those filing online, 38 percent intend to use a professional service. Another 38 percent plan to use do-it-yourself tax software. One-quarter of filers intend to use IRS e-file.

Nice job again bvph,

So I have to purchase tax software on same receipt with all these products to make it FAR? I remember only rebates processed by OD's rebate house require this and it usually says on top of the form. Last year I did the AVG, they didn't require this. Also, when it says "copy of installation disc" does it still mean photocopy? It would be funny if they actually want a copied disc.

It's a nice FAR deal they have this time compared to last year due to the coupon that can work on software.

There are a few titles (Norton and PC Tools titles) that allow separate purchase but most require purchase on the same receipt.

Has anyone actually had a rebate invalidated due to the tax purchase being done on a different transaction, after all the rebate processor just wants to see that you bought a tax product that year. Regardless if you do it on 1 or 2 transactions, I assume the tax software producer is contributing in paying the rebate.

can I buy some of these titles together online? I was hoping to get a high enough purchase to use the free digital camcorder q code.

dont waste your time, the camcorder is a piece of junk. think it lasted all of five minutes before it bit the dust

I read the AVG rebate form again and it does not specifically mention tax software has to be on same receipt like the Kaspersky rebate.

there was an additional $15 OD card that was listed, if you buy the H&R Block software...it was listed in last week's and is still in this week's ad, even though the rebate offer (10-37142) expired 12/25...anyone know of an updated form / offer # ?

does anyone know where i can find a 10,15, 20% off purchase coupons (valid on software) from office max/ Staples? i was hoping to use the coupon at OD when buying FAR software programs.

is it possible t use freebie coupon with $ off total coupon? Each time I try to add n freebie, it tells me no longer qualify for $ off coupon...

shawnra said:   is it possible t use freebie coupon with $ off total coupon? So if the freebie coupon has a $100 purchase required and the $ off is also $100 purchase required, you'd need to spend $200. You didn't actually think you could use both for the same purchase amount, did you?

Percentage off coupons are almost never accepted from competitors (or price matches in general).

i called my local OD and per the manager they will honor it.

Never mind

Has anyone got any of these combo tax offers already validated or invalidated? The rebate processors probably don't actually care, but it would nice to have a data point.

I grabbed a flyer titled "Buy any tax software or tax form & you can gt over $1200 in FREE software" from a OD store, but it states "Offers available in store only 12/12/10 - 4/16/11 and not available in Office Depot outlet/clearance stores, online at www.officedepot.com, or by phone (including orders for in-store pickup)" in the fine print.

Office Depot in-store flyers frequently state that offers are valid only in-store even when they are valid online as well.

I did the Trend Micro Max. Security 3 user rebates, which officially requires tax and software on same receipt, yet I still got the rebate, even though I purchased the tax separately, in fact I bought the tax at a different retailer(Staples) and both rebates are in processing.

OD split my order/shipment into 3 parts with each shipment having its own order number. As a result, the tax software is being shipped separately from everything else - what do I do now as mot software I bought requires that it be on the same receipt as the tax software? Cancel?

Pretty much.

Whether OD will split the order should be shown during checkout. Many did this offer in-store last year because of this issue.
