I haven't bought from OD since they started letting you use $ off coupons on software. Seems like you can't use more than one per order even if you have a high enough total, like you could with the free item coupons. True?

Well, the coupons are nice... except for one problem.
When applying them, they seem to be split by order percentage to the order.
Since the items are free after rebate, there is no real reason to use these coupons except to" A- Save Money out of our pocket in the short run B- Help save the rebate house from paying out a larger rebate. C- Result in Office Depot loosing money, through our short term greed.
In short, There is NO REASON at all that anyone should use these coupons on placing these free after rebate items. You can argue that you want the money in the short term, but that is purely greed. If you use these coupons you are only hurting Office Depot.
The rebate house, and respective software vendor should be absorbing the entire costs of this rebate promotion.

The rebate house, and respective software vendor should be absorbing the entire costs of this rebate promotion. Two points:
-- With a few exceptions, the rebates are paid at the stated value not the after coupon value.
Actually they are usually paid at the stated value or less... if you receipt shows you paid less, you get, well... less. That is why they ask for the receipt. Otherwise they would just ask for a upc.
rebate houses are not stupid.
And yes, Office Depot could take care of themselves, but the fact still remains they are less likely to offer good deals if they are barely scrapping by. There is no reason to have OD pay you 20$ when it just as easy could come from the rebate house.

perhaps i am mistaken.... You are mistaken. I have done hundreds of rebates over the last couple of years with coupons used on the purchases and maybe a handful of the rebates were reduced to the post coupon cost.
The receipt will have both the retail price and then a discount. Circle the retail price and the rebate house generally will not investigate further.

perhaps i am mistaken....Have you ever done a rebate and had this happen or are you spewing this "knowledge" from what you assume it will be? Because, they're already paying you $90 for an $89.99 purchase, so if they are serious about them not overpaying, they're already doing that. Granted it's only a penny, but that does not matter. And since these all have multiple rebates, no one rebate will be more than the actual price on the receipt.
People use coupons for rebate software all the time and get paid in full. I've done it at Staples and at Office Depot. Please share your proof that what we have experienced never happened.
Also, even if they were to reduce the rebate (and they won't), saving sales tax on $15 is nothing to sneeze at. And Office Depot is doing fine with my purchase at a discounted price.
Apologies to bpvh, I see you said something similar, but I had started writing this before and did not submit it.
Finally, the reason they ask for the receipt is to validate when you bought it. NOT to see how much you paid.

Just to expand further on this topic:
-- many rebates have no terms and conditions that specifically allow for reducing the face value of the rebate based on the actual (post coupon) purchase price.
-- most rebates that do have such terms and conditions are limited to the rebate in question. With most OD FAR software titles requiring both a standard and upgrade/combo rebate, the actual purchase price is generally higher than the face value of either rebate.
-- the few rebates that do have terms and conditions stating that the combined rebate payouts will not exceed the actual purchase price (aka McAfee) are not currently being enforced.
-- There are reports that recent Nova Development and Avanquest rebate payouts have been reduced for using coupons.
Both of the Trend Micro rebates states that it is limited to one rebate per product version. Are they enforcing it?
This promotion is for a bundle -- Maximum Security + LoJack. I bought Max. Security before; but not the LoJack. Is that going to fall under the "one rebate per product version"?
TIA

Hmm.. is the $50 for free shipping after coupons? It's charging me $9.95 for shipping on a $50 order with the $10 coupon. It's also splitting the eraser and Norton Backup software into 2 orders.
if a person wants to use 10/50 coupon for an online purchase, it might be best to have it as instore pickup if the totla is ~$4x.xx otherwise, shipping will be charged

I haven't had luck with Discover and Office Depot with software. The terms state that software doesn't count. Either you're really lucky, or I'm really unlucky. Do you get your normal CB on top of Shop Discover?

The rebates say the Tax software and the FAR Software has to be purchased at the same time.
Also, the morons did not include an invoice in my package for the McAfee Internet Security Suite 3-User nor the Norton Internet Security 2011/Norton Utilities Premier Bundle.
What do people do in this case? Will they take the e-mail version?
MsMorrisine said: The rebates say the Tax software and the FAR Software has to be purchased at the same time.
None of the above software, within the dates for this thread..need to be purchased with tax software..for these offers. My suggestion is to read/post in the previously posted thread dealing with the tax software/FAR combo's.

My Trend Micro/LoJack bundle rebate is invalid for missing POP. Chatted with Parago to try and get it fixed. She told me to look for the POP on the box. After a few minutes of chatting she agreed to validate it.
