* $100 instant savings available on TouchPad purchases from August 5 through 7, 2011 only and available at HP.com and participating resellers. While supplies last.

Staples has lowered the Price to $399 and $499. Use the $100 off coupon to get it down to $299 and $399. Either in store if they have in stock or try to purchase at the in store Kiosk and pay at the register with coupon YMMV.

Go to OfficeDepot and see if the manager will accept Staples $100 coupon, as they have lowered their prices to $399 and $499 too YMMV.

Some BestBuy stores accepted the last $100 off tablet Staples coupon too. So try them to see if they accept the coupon, as they have lowered their prices to $399 and $499 too YMMV.

Staples $100 off HP Touchpad coupon
I checked a bunch of zip codes and I can't find any Staples with the HP Touchpad instock. EDIT: That is, i can't find any with the 16gb in stock.

So glad they've come to their senses and are dropping the price... I thought HP was going to let this thing stagnate. WebOS is a great UI... hopefully they'll get an android compatibility layer in there too so it's not so app-bereft.

According to Staples.com:

Which items and services aren’t available for price match?
We don’t match our store prices to those on other companies’ Web sites. We don’t price match our Staples® EasyTechSM services.

Doesn't sound like they'll match it, does it?

They might not need to "match". The OP link says: "$100 instant savings available on TouchPad purchases from August 5 through 7, 2011 only and available at HP.com and participating resellers. While supplies last." We'll see if Staples is a "Participating reseller"

Here's a pretty easy way to get it down under 350:

It's going to be $399 at OfficeMax B&M, too. They have no reason to not PM now.

No way Staples will let this go for $299. Their corporate goons are probably typing up the memo directing stores NOT to do this as we speak...

Well, that and they are OOS almost everywhere (and online) for the 16gig. Clever.

well and beautifully

Is this better than Asus Transformer?

HP could have been first to market w/Win7 but they wanted their own ecosystem with this too little too late proprietary system. What developer in the right mind would want to risk developing on this platform when there's iOS, Android, and even WinMo7 to already having to develop for? It's going to go by the way side the same as the Blackberries... If only they had came out with the Windows version two years ago instead of dilly-dallied for this long... Buy a piece of history in the making, this will be limited edition.

No sooner than I posted and it is already available and clearing out via Woot... (the close out specialist).

Sometimes I amaze even myself.

$299 at Staples AC B&M now. No PM required. Oh wait, they will be conveniently out of stock.

n/m

Staples already dropped the price to 399.99 and 499.99 for 16GB and 32GB respectively online. However in-store the price is still 499.99 and 549.99 respectively. So the price will be 399.99 and 449.99 respectively in store. But you can probably place a kiosk order to get the online pricing and then use the 100 coupon. to get the 299.99/399.99 pricing. Will be YMMV depending on the cashier/manager.

BTW if coupon is a no go, get them from Amazon/other online retailer where u have free shipping/no sales tax

You can also use FATWALLET30 to bring it down another $30 through HP.

Just got out of my local Staples. The price for the 32gb is down to $499 *and* they took the $100 off coupon from the other thread. So my total was $399 plus tax for the 32gb Touchpad. YMMV.

I'll post my receipt when I get a chance today.

Was there any 16gb available when you went into your Staples store?

didn't get one, but can confirm my Staples has lowered their in-store prices by $100 as well and would take the coupon

Is there any difference between 32gb and 16gb besides the memory. If I can get the 32gb at Staples for $400, I might consider it.

Did the 32GB ring automatically for $500 instore or did you price match it to online price. So when they scanned the UPC did it automatically ring $500 and then you gave the coupon ? I heard in other site that 16GB instore is $500.

Why on Earth did you buy this? You wanted a chunky tablet that only does web-browsing?

wow this thing looks like a POS. it doesn't even use android, it uses "HP WebOS". i would stay far, far away. especially since it is HP made.

New here and looking at this..but not sure what some of the acronyms mean...so please help.

YMMV - Does it mean, "Your Market May Very"?

I also keep seeing the letters "B&M" on this thread....what does that mean?

Would be interesting to see if Office Depot would take the coupon. Right now they are showing it as this: Original Price: $499.99
Instant Savings: -$100.00
Checkout Price: $399.99
Your Price $399.99

So would they take the $100.00 off to make it $299.00? I imagine they would say no OR that the local Staples would have to have it....which of course we all know that they do not....as usual.

HP bought up Palm about a year ago, mostly for the purpose of getting WebOS. It's a great OS (have it on my palm phone)... the only problem is that the app market is very small.

YMMV = "Your Mileage May Vary" but yeah, same idea.
B&M = "Brick & Mortar" as in, actual physical store as opposed to online.
And yes, it would be interesting if Office Depot accepts the Staples coupon. If you try it out, please report back your success/failure. Thanks!

Oh, and welcome to FW! (that's Fatwallet )

Having used WebOS for a while now and messed around with my wife's iPad2 and iPhone, I can say there are distinct reasons for liking each tablet. I don't understand this intense competition for Apple users/followers to be so critical of competing products.

Competition is a great thing!

I love WebOS and frankly, if an Apple user would actually spend some time using it, they would realize how elegant it is. That said, HP really dropped the ball on this first Touchpad by not loading it up with great hardware features (it has no HDMI, no SD, no GPS, no rear camera) and then not pricing it less than the iPad2.

I don't need the majority of worthless iOS apps, but HP has hardly any in the first place. It DOES have Flash, though, which I love.

I'm not always an early adopter, but $399 for a 32GB Touchpad is a good deal. Will it go lower? Yes. Will you have regrets when the 4G version comes out? Possibly.

Such is life!

Yuyak...thanks a lot. I love learning. I am actually hoping to get a good deal on the Thrive or the Lenovo....

Yes, the 32GB scanned at $499. They were just changing their shelf price stickers to "$499 after instant discount".

Of course, none of the stores in my area have the 16GB model. I asked the manager if they would let me order the 16GB and use the coupon but he said no. Though I was happy the coupon worked on the 32GB model.

too bad Staples B&M doesn't carry the 16gig model

Staples is being very shady with these coupons and purposely not having stock for them. Time for a BBB complaint?

na, the OP bought it just to p1$$ off SDers.

Still showing $449.99 after instant rebate at HP.

I see that too. Lol, they can't even get a fire sale right...

I tried FATWALLET30 and it is currently working, but since the total is still wrong, it comes out to $419.99. Once they fix the webpage, it will be the best deal I have seen (aside from the YMMV Staples or PM) at $369.99.

I checked the website as well, it told me there where none in stock and I called my local store to double check and it turns out that they do have them so I advise you to call instead

I just tried to use the coupon at Staples - was told they had a communication from corporate today telling them not to honor this coupon, as it was sent out by mistake and could not be combined with the instant discount.
