The 424155 "coupon" is actually a SKU, not a coupon. The cashier needs to scan it like it's a product you're buying. If they try to scan it like a coupon, their system won't take it and you won't get your $9.99 rewards.

I forgot to add that the gift card expires in 60 days...
How many people will actually go back to Staples within 60 days to use this "reward", and how many of those people will end up spending $10 or less? Its no deal at all. I'll be laughing when I have my $10, and everyone loses $10 on this deal.

what???
just to clarify the mis-information being posted-- you pay $9.99 and you receive back a Staples Rewards check for that amount the following month. The check is good on the purchase of anything except gift cards, stamps and other items prohibited by law. It expires in 60 days, 6 mo if you have Premier status. No minimum purchase required but if you only use part of it they will issue a voucher for the balance -- one time only -- which has the same expiration date. If you do not use it by the end of the 60 days you lose it. If you do not use it up in your next transaction you will not receive any credit for balance remaining. You can use it B&M or online. $10 is pretty easy to spend IMO. Some people buy things that are Free after Rebate using their Rewards checks. That converts the Reward back to cash.
This is a Free After Rewards item like the Duracell batteries and mini flash drives. If you use Rewards to pay for this item you will NOT get back more Rewards. If you pay w/ cash, gift card, cc, etc. you will receive back the Rewards. Free After Rewards is NOT the same as Free After Rebate.

It's this kind of insider BS that's killing FW. I've been around here for a long time and didn't immediately know the formalities of the Staples rewards. I am not a frequent Staples B&M shopper, but the headline Earbuds - FREE sparked my interest.
after a few seconds of inspection, I too saw this as: I pay $10 + tax and get a $10 certificate to buy more Staples stuff within a restricted time window. it's not FREE. it's not FREE like FREE after rebate. It's only marginally better in my mind than Kohl's "cash".
to start ripping on other FW people for spelling this point out, and making the thread exclusive for only those who shop Staples rewards deals all the time really discourages participation.

Considering I have a $100 Staples gift card I got through credit card rewards, this sounds like an easy way to get free stuff to me. Thanks OP!

The titls clearly says "free after Staples Rewards", no different than free after Rebate or free after extra bucks, etc. You conveniently left that out of your post, it doesn't say "FREE" period.
People are getting ripped for:
a) instead of asking questions, or trying to understand the program and how to best utilize, they are THREAD CRAPPING
b) posting total misinformation, like the $10 off $20 coupon nonsense post.
c) since rewards checks CAN be used on Free After Rebate merchandise once issued, it is as good as free after rebate. You can then spend your $10 on a free after rebate item and get a check/paypal, etc.
d) again, it's the threadcrap/ignorance posts that spark all the exchanges. and are well deserved IMO.

Is the restriction one per sku or just one earbud.

pointing it out would be "please put xxx in the title."
"OMGWTFBBQ it's NOT FREE" is thread crapping

As a new FW poster, I have to say I'm disappointed in you "old timers".
I don't see anyone crapping on a deal. They are clarifying. This is not a "free" deal, as stated repeatedly. Yes, a free deal would be to go in and essentially walk out with an item without paying a penny. That is technically the meaning of "Free". What this deal contains is you pay $10 for an item and you get a $10 gift card to be used for a future purchase within 60 days. That clarification would have kept me from clicking the link (and it also would keep it from the "free" category). That means that, if someone has a future purchase to make at Staples that they were going to make anyway, yes, they essentially get a free item. However, I would venture to say that many if not most who click this link are flexible enough where they shop that they don't have further purchases they HAVE to make at Staples.
The flamers need to learn to grow up. Being mean does nothing but make you look juvenile and actually diminishes your point. Being thoughtful and explaining your view is much more persuasive. For those being quippy, if there is "much to learn", teach me. I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to learn how to work this deal the best advantage possible!

office,
no one EVER stated this was "free". It says free AFTER Staples rewards, which like many deals that are free "AFTER" a condition is met implies there is a "hoop" to jump through.
even a free after rebate deal is not FREE> you must first buy/pay for the item and then do the required rebate submission to get your money back.
a free after rewards deal is pretty much the same thing at Staples. you buy the item, lay out the money, and get Staples Rewards check back in about a month.
You simply can spend that money at Staples as you see fit, whether in store or online. If you wish to "cash out" and recoup your $10 to make the earbuds "free", as opposed to more merchandise you might need, you simply spend that $10 on a free after rebate item and then get a check back (or other options like paypal or Visa card). There is NO tax charged on the rewards check use, so you really do get the full benefit of what you laid out (you don't get penalized for sales tax on the $10 twice in other words)
I have no problem being thoughtful/explaining a point, but those posters came into this thread like a bull in a china shop, had made up their minds that the deal was a "scam" of some kind and certainly were not trying to learn or asking questions if they were leery of the deal mechanics. They were NOT clarifying anything. They were TELLING us how the deal works, and they were wrong.

What you need to learn is there always something you need to do for a " free" deal Either you have to do mail in rebate or you need some creative way to convert gift card to cash. If you are not willing to learn how to do that you or to lazy to do that then there is no free deal .
Staples go is as good as cash to me given that they offer a lot of free after rebates product which I can buy and get a visa gc or rebate check. T

this is like $10 = $20+ worth of goods deal (if you buy more deals with the rewards).
Not bad, like a 60% off in the end if you need some necessities like envelopes, pens.

One more (noob) question: Is it OK to use rewards coupons gotten from recycling ink cartridges on such a deal? Will I get 100% rewards?
