I purchased two GLEE II MID-BACK MANAGER CHAIR, BLACK 22250403 and I made an extra $80 in OfficeMax Rewards credit. Most people figure at the start of the week this was an Instore deal only however I now can confirm this is an Online promo which I assume is an error as the chair retails for $89.99 instore not $49.99.
Here is the math-
OfficeMax.com is offering the chair on sale this week for $49.99 however in store there are offering $89.99 OfficeMax rewards credit. I purchased this char online and received the instore credit. I assumed I would as the Ad clearly states you can purchase the chair online or instore and receive the reward. I have posted the screen shots of my order and the OfficeMax perks credit of $179.98
So I spend $99.98 on two chairs and got back $179.98 in rewards.
I'm in the Boston area so my product shows in ad 1 cent after maxperk rewards. Some people are seeing different amounts based on region. Many feel this is a regional deal. This is a part I'm not certain of as the chair shows for me online at $49.99 and it should show at the retail price and not the $49.99 price. In my OM weekly ad it shows the rewards as instore and online, however it doesn't show on the product page online that it has maxperks bonus rewards. I did in fact receive the rewards posted to my account today which is the day after receiving the chairs.

Why did you get $179.98 back in rewards if it is supposed to be $79.99 back per chair? $79.99 x 2 = $159.98

The credit varied by zipcode some zipcodes you get $80 back and some you get $70 back. But i think for all online purchases you get $80.

The rewards is in OfficeMax credit not cash. The rewards shows in the OfficeMax ad, however on the OfficeMax website the chair is only $49.99 and you get back $89.99 credit.

The rewards credit is an error in my thoughts. As the item number of the chair is the same as the current promo in most zipcode. As the item number has a credit assigned to it for $89.99 when you buy it online for $49.99 you get the $89.99 credit.

This is not showing up as an online promo. The OfficeMax perks reward system is simply giving you $89.99 credit when you purchase this chair online.

Yes..and since your the only one that got this deal so far (in this and the "other" forum)..your luck in getting the credit could also be a one-time system error.
You need to at least at YMMV to the title unless you have some proof (confirmed by other buyers, confirmed by CSR, etc).

Your right it could be a one time error. My thought is that it is linked to the item number as it matches. It may be a risk but the payoff is really good. The good news is OfficeMax allows returns for at least 30 days. I wanted to share the deal so others may be able to jump on it.

Also not too big into being deceitful.

It is not being deceitful. My flyer states check out these great deals online and instore. The chair is an online and instore promo. However online the chair is selling for less. It states no where that the deal is Instore only. I think it is an error on OfficeMax part in regards to the $49.99 price.

No, the price is correct since it appears at that price (in the non-promo markets). If the ad has the promo, wording (valid in-store, online) and the price...in your market, you should be set.
The problem comes in when you order the item and the promo is not in your local ad. Some deals are regional and this appears to be one.
Everything points to this as a system glitch as to why you got it (if your local ad doesn't offer it)..just remember they can adjust your rewards anytime before payout.

It has already been confirmed to be regional in the ad itself. Type in different zip codes and find it.

Yes this is possible. Not sure why my market is not showing the correct price of the chair. I figured the $49.99 is a national online price and not local but it appears it was only to be in certain markets.

Most rewards pay out on the 18th - 23rd of the next month.
