I've had a set of these for 5 years now, these are pretty awesome for the price. I'm in for another set...

How do you think these stack up to my old HD555's? They are getting a little beat up and it's time to upgrade!

Seems to be OOS already: Sennheiser Electronic corp. HD280PRO has been removed from shopping cart due to quantity limitation/insufficient stock. Some combo items might be affected by this.

Yes..it died a while ago. Odd also that some are reporting they ordered before it went OOS..no email confirmation or order history info.

Completely different sound. The 555's are open headphones with decent spatials. The 280's are closed studio cans. The spatials aren't there and the sound is flat (intentionally). They're good headphones for what they are, but if you're used to the 555's I don't think you'll be happy with the experience you get out of the 280s.

Sennheiser is a pro brand, I'm not familiar with this model but I would expect those to be a good pair of headphones.
Thanks, I brought mine 2:50AM last night and the site took 5 minutes to receive my confirmation order #. Currently under "Processing" Status
I have no doubt this is a amazing price for these headphones, usually go for 80$ or more. Countless review to back it up, I almost pull the trigger when it was on Amazon for 75$.
I start with the HD 201 for 12.99 Last year, and love the durable. The sound quality was questionable but I learn to like it over time.
I brought the HD448 on Amazon just a week ago for 49.99. Already I brought the HD 280 for 59.95. I might return the 448 but for causal and portable 448 is going destory 280

Thanks for the insight. I always keep any eye out for an upgrade to my 4yr old HD202's that are used 80% for PC Gaming and 20% for movie watching. I've never had any headphones last this long without shorting out/breaking.
I wouldn't mind stepping up the Sennheiser ladder for a (slightly) better quality set of (closed) headphones, but with Sennheiser, sometimes the price points jump dramatically.
