Thanks OP! Got this price matched at Amazon, AND applied the 10% promotion code for using Amazon visa card (Promo Code JANGET10). Total price after promotion was $431.99, no tax for CA
With the 3% CashBack on Amazon.com card, that brings the finall tally to around $419.xx

Great deal. wait.. what? how did you do that? Did you call Amazon and they let you price match and use the promo code?

Great deal.
Say, did you need to pricematch via customer service? There's supposed to be a "Found a Lower Price" button on the Order Summary page... but, there isn't.

I went ahead and placed the order at regular price and applied the JANGET10 promo. Then I called Amazon and asked them to price match with Dell. Did not have to ask anything special - they automatically bought the price down to 479.99 and kept the 10% coupon on top.
You will only find the "Found a Lower Price" button once the TV has been shipped. Odd, but that's how Amazon does it.
I've been bitten by this nuisance. I bought a TV and Amazon shipped quite some time later. I submitted the pricematch request from the "Found a Lower Price" button immediately, but I didn't realize by that time the deal I wanted to pricematch with was no longer available (out of stock). So obviously Amazon couldn't confirm the lower price and the pricematch failed. 42" and lower TVs usually ship right away via regular shipping and this shouldn't be an issue. But TVs larger than 42" usually come through scheduled delivery and it's harder to pricematch really good deals. This was 8 months ago, so Amazon might have a different system for larger TVs now.
I just got off the phone with Amazon. They were ready to price match but the guy told me that I had to talk to a different department to get it done...that department is only open 8a-5pm on the weekends. Guess I'll try again tomorrow. Amazon charges tax here, so the only advantage I'm getting from them over Dell is the free 2 day shipping. Dell shipping is free, but expected ship date isn't until 1/26/12.

If that was true all local stores would be in trouble. It might be a small reason but it isnt' the ONLY reason.
Great deal. Hope there are some great deals in March when I have the money for a new tv.
Dell's price looks like it went up to $579. Amazon is not price matching for me b/c my purchase price yesterday with 10% off was below Dell's $479.99.

yep - ordered mine hoping for a pricematch at Amazon. - sure do feel silly now since Amazon smartly waits to pricematch until after they ship your TV out

However, you can always call their 800 number between 9am-5pm and ask for a price match. That's the route I took, and was successful in getting the price down to the $432 mark.

I'm surveying--I'm wondering if I should cancel and wait for another deal. ~$440 I was ready to jump on, but $480 is a different story. Still nice to not be paying shipping, nor the +8.5% tax, but doesn't feel like an unbeatable deal anymore.

I would get it and keep looking for better deals in hope to price match.
