This probably would've made a good W8 tablet except for the crappy screen resolution. What is 600-768 any way?

from the product description....

The light-weight, ultra-portable HP 64GB Slate 500 Tablet PC features an LED backlit 8.9" capacitive multi-touch LCD display with either a WSVGA 1024 x 600 or 1024 x 768 widescreen resolution, depending on the application

waitng for $99.99 too lol

This is the old version of the Slate. (the slate predates the Touchpad)

The new Slate 2 has a built in TPM chip for those who need encryption.

IMHO, this is more useful than most of the other ~$300 tablets since it can run all the native windows apps.

But at $500, I am not sure. Maybe if it come down to around $300 or so..

I've been researching tablets for Win 8 development work. Unless you are lucky to get one from Microsoft, the next best option is Acer Iconia W500, also around $500 (or refurb for about $380), but with only 32GB drive. It looks like HP tablet has more issues in terms of loading Win 8 and getting the drivers to work.

Will I get a hernia?
