I'd like to see some hard evidence that mod makes a difference as I'd like to increase the ranges of the ones I own. The thing holding me back is that I did a similar mode on a Netgear WNR834B a couple of years ago. I had two, one modded with three external antennas and one left stock. In testing using Kismet there was essentially no difference despite the big honking external antennas. Well at least it looks cool.
if I have an 802.11G now (and it works fine), can I get this (802.11N) then all my computers/Xbox Live/ethernet boxes, etc will work with no changes needed - correct?
