For this claim to be approved, customers must have exactly $20 dollars in item amount. Customers are required to purchase FIVE (5) 1 QT Valvoline NextGen oil OR ONE (1) 5.1 QT Valvoline NextGen oil
May not work for a $19.99 purchase.

The rebate is for exactly $20, so if you purchase quarts (which count for $4 each) you must buy 5 of them and get a $20 rebate; i.e., you can't buy 3 or 4 and get a $12 or $16, you must have enough for exactly $20 in the amount of the rebate.
This is the same offer from the end of last year (AAP-10003), which was originally 1 per SKU and got changed to 1 per household. The date has been extended from March to June. Thanks OP!

BITOG has lots of comments on recycled oil, including G-Oil. the conensus generally is very good but there are quite a few that are still skeptical. I personally get whatever is cheap / free, and this more then qualifies.

16000 miles for an oil change. I just change mine whenever I get some free oil. My car is over 12 years old with 88k on the engine. It's like new. My oil stays clear for almost 1000 miles before it begins to darken. And it burns about one quart every 6000 miles. I expect to get 150k out of the timing chain and bearings, but not sure about the water pump.

I change mine by season. Doesn't matter to me if it has 2000 or 8000 miles on it and I don't need to keep up with the mileage. Right before winter I change it, in spring/summer I change it and sometimes in fall. They tell you to change it every 3000, really? The manufacturer of my car says 7000. I guess the oil salesmen know more about the car than the manufacturer. My car has 186,000 on it and it's 17 years old. Must be doing something right.

HARDLY EVER FIND FREE A/R OIL THESE DAYS...not like the old days of monthly 29-49c per quart oil deals!!!...
of course, so went the $1.19/gallon of gasoline too.

Water pumps are separate from the oiling system and has sealed bearings depends more on the condition of the antifreeze. My truck is 23 years old and has about 88000 on it I'm planning to change the belts hoses thermostat and water pump at the next radiator fluid change. Have tons of oil need a free filter deal. Like 5 off 5 at autozone.

Still wondering about the 19.99 5 qt. jug being disqualified for not meeting the 20.00 requirement in rebate terms and conditions...

Definitely some risk involved as you don't have a leg to stand on if your rebate is rejected. Seems you actually have to find 5 quarts for $20 exactly without having a risk of rejection which may be hard to find. Of course there always is the risk of getting any rebate unless you are willing to follow up and keep good records.

Just uploaded two lousy (out of focus) phone camera screenshots to Quick Summary of the placards in front of the oil. Shows $19.99 price AND $20 rebate on same card for 5+ jug. Can someone with a better camera grab a better shot (also let me know when there is a good FW deal on a new camera).

Posted new store placard. Clear as day. Called rebate center and they said it qualified, for what that's worth (I'm hoping $20).

Rebate house would be insane to try to balk on this one... I'm in CA, which (aside from all its problems) has a pretty aggressive Consumer Protection office. They'll be all over this if rebates get rejected for the $19.99 thing.
Can someone clarify that the rebate eligibility requires that you take used oil back to be recycled? Placard pictured mentions a $20 Gift Card.

I am going to assume if I already did this SAME offer back at the end of 2011 (as in 12/31/11!) then I can not do this again. Just getting all of my rebates for that batch was lots of work. And, after speaking with the supervisor and pointing out the new extended date (she said I need to wait until the end date before getting my $$!!) she said they extend based upon it being popular. I also pointed out how is one to know if they already did an offer if they extend with the same offer number? One would have to keep all rebates they've already done for quite sometime to know not to do it again. I think I will stay away from even attempting to do this "same offer number" again based on how poorly they handled it already.

Rebate terms are pretty clear-- limit 2 per household. If you've done the max, then any subsequent submissions for the same offer would rightly be rejected. If you did _1_ before, and are doing _1_ now, then that fits in the stated limit, and would (if you did everything else correctly) qualify.
As for keeping documents, consider getting some PDF software and a scanner. Scan in EVERYTHING related to a rebate you're submitting. Hang onto it FOREVER. I do a LOT of rebates-- $5-8K per year. I use a simple spreadsheet to track what was sent, when, what status is on them, when they "approved," when they "mailed" check, etc. I can easily search for previously submitted offer numbers in the spreadsheet to make sure I don't hit limits. And the moment I see a rebate isn't moving forward, I contact them and ask them to promptly process my rebate, and offer to send my "PDF scans of all supporting materials" if they need them-- this is to let them know I keep lots of supporting materials for my rebates... and so they are less likely to play games. You should do some research on this board to find out other tips to effective rebating. There are a number of people here who do it very well.

yes, you have to be a very good record-keeper to avoid getting "burned" but labboypro, I'm reading it's limit 1 per household
also, I usually store the items away & leave it SEALED, in the garage until i get my rebate check/ gift card... then i'll put it into use. That way, if they denied your submission & refuse to pay you back for jumping through their hoops, you have the option to return it.
I prefer the 5W30 for the newer vehicles (for 2000+ model years)
Got both mine in the mail today too (different address). Sure would like to get my hands on another jug or two. I'll have to wait to this promotion (AAP-10003) is over.

Just wanted to update: there is a new rebate for the Valvoline Oil (old one ended 3/28), so if you haven't done this since 3/28 you can get another 5 quarts. It's an online rebate, nothing to mail in.
AAP-10008 - Advance Auto Parts April Mail-in Rebate 03/29/2012 - 04/25/2012 {postmark by 5/25/2012}
do you submit the rebate as an "online" order using the store/register number they show you or do you enter the store info where you pick it up. Please, no guesses, only if you've done the previous rebate and rec'd your gift card back already and have an answer based on experience. thanks.

i did these in the past. i always order online for store pick-up and used the register/store number printed on the receipt. Got all my gift cards, no problems doing this way

Last rebate I used the generic online info (Store #1020 and Register #1) and got the rebate 2/17 Submitted online 4/4 GC mailed 4/9 GC received
This time I put in the actual pickup receipt info to see if it the rebate will come quicker
