Think they are more worried about the losses to other games, and there are a good number of other MMOs in the pipeline too.
This locks people in for a year so they can hope to get them back if the new games don't attract them. Easier than trying to get them to resub in 6 months or whatever.

D3 Beta is open to everyone starting today if anyone wanted to test it out first.
In a few hours, their servers are going to be SLAMMED. I'm sitting at 25% now, so it's not that bad. Highly recommend setting it up to download BEFORE work.

If there are any former World of Warcraft players that are considering coming back to the game for this deal, you should take advantage of the Scroll of Resurrection program before signing up for the Annual Pass. To use this, any current WoW player can send you an invite back to the game using either your battle.net email address or your realm & character name.
