Looks like this deal is back on... FWIW, my wife tried it and likes it. She says it cleans as well as the ECOS brand liquid detergent we got at Costco and the clothes smell fresh. Green BB!

WOW, you went "all in" for 1100 loads without even knowing if she (or you!) would like it?! Brave man indeed! Obviously, you could have returned it, Sears is pretty decent about that I'd imagine... but wow!

Great stuff & Great deal, but I think I can wait a while longer.

I bought 5 of the 17.3 lb boxes (from a Butcherboy post) on April 21st of last year. Not sure about weight, but we still have 7 gallons left; and we do a lot of laundry.

Samsung front load washer.
I have been using TIDE HE and tried Sams Club equivalent some time back. Both are good.
But I am not elated by it and will appreciate if someone can write back their experience with TIDE Liquid v/s this.
P.S. : I have never used powder detergent before.

If you read the reviews on Sears website, they discuss this topic

We have Samsung front loader and we've been using this powder for about a year and the only issue is that the power does not dissolve all the way and the clump of hardened powder remains in the detergent compartment and we have not found a solution for it yet. Other than that, it cleans pretty good and it has not caused any issues with the washer either.

in for 5
thanks OP

alluding to the obvious, my washer has movable partitions in the pull out tray for selecting use with liquid and powder detergent. many a time, I forget to move it back when I used liquid, and the powder clumps.

hey BB - what $5 code are you referring to - i didn't see anything on their site except for the 5-15% "midnight madness" discounts

ETA i'm a moron
i see the code atop your post, sorry!

now we need a deal like this on fabric softener!

thanks BB, ordered 4 - that's just over 4 CENTS a load for detergent! now, where to put this bounty!

The boxes of course are pretty big so I transfer some to a smaller container. The only thing I don't like about this powder is it doesn't pour as well from a small plastic pitcher I use, compared to a more-granular detergent like Tide. Guessing I can find a pitcher w/ slighter wider spout. It only needs like a tablespoon and a half but even so I've had to shake the pitcher so hard the lid came off once and made quite the ridiculous mess.

so there's no scoop in the box or anything????

yes there is

As Liz Lemon would say, that's a dealbreaker.

In my case, we use a front-loading Maytag where the detergent hopper is a top-side hatch that opens up to drop detergent in from above. Upon starting the wash cycle, I can leave the lid open and watch the water run through the detergent compartment, and slowly pour it directly into the stream of running water. Haven't had a problem with any powders yet.

Anecdotally, I've heard some people claim that powder is actually better than liquid for front-loaders, as liquid detergents may use thickeners and gums that can end up encouraging mildew.

i had problems with powder detergents leaving white spots on my dark clothes. i read in the gardenweb laundry forums to disolve the powder in water and pour the solution into the front loader as a liquid. this helps but isn't perfect.

OOS

EDIT: Shows back in stock a few minutes later.

I bought this product for one reason, to save money. My wife (as most others) used way too much liquid and it was costing us a small fortune. Now she uses one scoop per load.

I weighed my remaining buckets today, we have used 50 lbs. in the last 12 months.

I cannot figure out what the difference is between this stuff and the 17.3 lb box. Does anyone know? I thought maybe the 17.3 lb box was concentrated, but both come out to .096 lbs per load.

I think it is the same stuff
I just use one very small cup per load

Deal is still on for a few more min,

You will need to go all the way to where you pay

I just ordered 2 more boxes. I won't have to buy any more detergent until late 2013. Thanks again!

Go for 4 boxes get $5 Off....

Use code SEARS2012 $5 Off Of $50

Maybe, but looking at retail prices the green box is cheaper in both the larger and smaller size, so the orange box is definitely more expensive and comes in a different box... doesn't make sense. We need to figure this out. We already know one is not more concentrated than the other because of the weight, so what could explain the price difference?

Nothing compares to Tide from the ratings I have seen over the years. I would never chance a powder. Also, after doing some research before repairing my LG front loader, I read over and over suggestions that one should not use as much detergent as recommended by the manufacturers of detergents.

True on the over-use of detergents. If used too much, it can build-up a mildew on the internal sensors and the machine would stop in mid-cycle, especially during the spin cycle. If it happens, the best way to fix it is to get a jar of 'Whirl-out' and run the washer on the normal cycle (without extra rise) with half a cup of the Whirlout powder dropped in the detergent compartment. Repeat once more and all the mildew build-up will be gone. Shown to me by a gentleman in the independant appliance repair business for over 30 years. I did this couple of years ago and no problems at all since then.

Price shows up at $26... in cart or on the page... is this done?

Please help. I got 1 box and it has no scoop in it.
I called the 800 number on the box a few times but no answer and no return to my voice message.

Can someone tell me size of 1 scoop.
Thanks in advance

Let's do some math: 26.4 Lbs * 454 Grams = 11,986 Grams of powder in the box / 275 loads = 44 Grams per load = 3 tablespoons = 1 scoop. So, 1 scoop = 3 tablespoons.
