Does this also include 1 yr Amazon Prime?

now I know why Amazon doesn't make much profit. I ordered the Kindle refurb couple days ago for $169 and I contacted CS for price adjustment but the CS told me to order a new one and return the one I received yesterday. And she even ask me if I am happy with the solution she offered..

That is because Amazon doesn't do price matching. By doing the way they told you, they can keep you happy and still maintain their policy.

doesn't the world end before christmas 2012?

If that were true we would already be dead as the Myans didn't know about leapyear and all the years like 666 that were skipped.

turn off your computers, TVs, tablets, and smart phones and go out into the world free of all this stuff

Not everyone buys devices like this to take everywhere with them. For me and my wife we have ditched the normal full pc for tablets. Just fits our use case better. However 99.9% of our use is in our home. We just have no use for a full pc now. All three of our tablets (Blackberry Playbook, Acer a500, and this Kindle Fire) cost less than the last pc we bought so it is more economical for us also. Not hating, just don't blanket comment that everyone that uses a tablet must have the thing glued to their hand 24/7.

OOS now?

OOS

Thanks OP!!!!! Got my Kindle Fire today. My 11 year old daughter bought it and is going to be thrilled. It looked brand new and suspect it was since it was sealed up in the packaging and flawless. It's a pretty neat device. For $140 it was a steal.
