I tried to buy this but the price jumped at checkout. $24.69 Thanks


After seeing this item on Fatwallet on sale for $15.19 (reg $25.99) I decided to order them.
After placing them in my cart the sale price was correct. When I attempted to check out the price reverted to the normal non-sale price. Aftere retrying, I opened a chat with their "service" department. Here is the transcript:

Hi, my name is Griffith, and it is my pleasure to assist you today. May I have your name?

you: Doug

Griffith: Good Evening, Doug. How may I assist you today?

you: I am trying to purchase Sears item number 07183719000 Model 83719 Craftsman Compound Action Bypass Loper. On the web site it shows reg price $25.99, savings of $10.00, Sale price $15.99 and NOW $15.19. This price shows when I put the item in the cart yet when I try to checkout the price jumps to $24.69 plus tax. Why is the sale price on the web not working?

Griffith: I have not received a response yet. Would you like to continue chatting with me, Doug?

you: I just sent it and can see it on the screen???

Griffith: I'll be glad to assist you with price of the item.

Griffith: I am sorry for the delay.

Griffith: Let me check the information for you.

Griffith: I appreciate your patience

Griffith: I checked and see there is pricing error the web page.

Griffith: I'll report to my technical department to resolve the issue.

Griffith: Please stay online for a moment, while I report the issue.

Griffith: Thank you for staying online.

you: ok

Griffith: I already reported to my tech department, our team members are currently working on it.

Griffith: Your Record Number is 99717.

Griffith: Please write this down so you can

Griffith: come back and check the status later.

Griffith: I request you to come back to us to know the item price updates.

Griffith: Please visit our web site with 24 - 48 hours.

you: So what does that mean?

Griffith: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?

you: Will the price in the cart be the $15.19 shown on the site?

Griffith: There is a pricing error on the item, I reported to my concerned department. To know the correct price of the item please come back within 24 -48 hours to know the updates.

Griffith: I am sorry we don't have the information regarding the item future price.

you: So you are telling me you will not honor the price shown on YOUR web site RIGHT NOW???

you: Please transfer me to your supervisor

Griffith: I am sorry, as the my supervisor is not here. I request you to contact us through phone "1-800-349-4358".

Griffith: I am sorry for the inconvenience that you are facing with the item.

Griffith: Our team members will help you with your query.

Griffith: Are there any other questions I can assist you with today?

you: This has been absolutely no help to me at all and has done nothing but waste my time. I do not know of ONE other store who will not honor their advertised price.

Griffith: I am sorry, I do understand you issue. However, we are only the agents to follow the procedures and policies of Sears.com.

Griffith: I request you to contact to the above number with the report number.

Griffith: Our team members will assist you with your query.

Griffith: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?

you: Your internal communication between your marketing and IT departments is of no concern to me. The only thing that is of concern to THE CUSTOMER is having his questions answered. Elaborating your internal communication failures did nothing to answer my question. And any customer service department worth their salt would have immediately recognized the issue they had and offered the customer the advertised price. Sears has lost a customer over $10. Astounding.

So........their "service rep":
Used my call and time to correct an internal pricing issue
Gave me a number that I had no idea what it meant and would not explain it.
Refused to honor the sale price that was on their web site AT THE TIME OF THE CHAT
Would not transfer me to a supervisor.
Bottom line: they have likely lost a customer over $10 and their complete lack of any level of customer service. Having encountered this in the past, the store has honored the price displayed 100% of the time until yesterday at Sears. On top of that I was made to hold for an extended period of time while they corrected their internal issue, of no concern to me.


Sears customer "service" is consistently awful. I guess at least they fixed their "price mistake" now as it's back at $25.


Some days I'm really sad that Sears will be gone before too long....some days I'm not.
