Also, how do I get the $25/75 coupon please ? I am looking for a heavy duty shredder. Thanks.
plz read, this deal STARTS 5/6. try eBay for the coupon if you don't have it. make sure you get one for instore or one for online depending which way you're going to get it. there are different coupons for each.

not, because there is no rebate on this model at present. Easy Rebate shown in OP starts tomorrow.

Just checked and it is on now (5/6, 6 a.m. est), but dang...this part means I won't be participating..."Bring your old shredder with proof of payment to any Staples store by 6/12/12 to receive a $50 credit to the debit/credit card originally used to purchase". Ha! Like I would still HAVE that receipt? I'm lucky to find the recepts I need for this year's taxes. My old shredder? It is so old I should take it to Antiques Road Show. Too bad, cause it looks like a good shredder. Guess I'll have to let my dog do the shredding for now. Thanks, OP, it was a good find!

You may want to check with Staples, CPenn. I suspect they mean proof of purchase of the NEW shredder. Staples is pretty good about rebates and I can't believe they would have an absurd requirement like proof of payment for the old one.
From reading the reviews this shredder doesn't have a removable bin, instead you take the top off. I can see this being quite messy (dropping bits of shredded paper all over) and since I'm the janitor as well as CEO, I'll keep my old shredder going a bit longer.
BTW, shredders really last if you run paper with shredder oil on them every once in a while. Mine's at least five years old.

correct, proof of payment is on the NEW shreadder, not the old junky one you're trading in.
Hmm - which coupon do I use for in-store pick up if I want to order on-line? See below:
Online coupon T&Cs: Valid for Staples Online/Phone purchase Only. NOT valid for In-Store purchase OR orders placed at Staples store kiosk but paid at the front counter.
Before I go spend $1.98, does anyone still have a 25/75 coupon from a few weeks ago? I don't mind doing FS from on-line if that's what you have. Pls PM me if you do for free kharma.

if you're ordering online for store pick up, you use the online coupon. the merchandise is already paid for when you're picking it up.

Just a note. If you plan on buying the shredder online. When you bring in the old shredder (You do not need any proof of purchase). You will have to do a return/buy. You will return the shredder, give them the old shredder, and then purchase it again. I suspect you will redo the 15 dollar rebate for the new purchase.

Would the return/re-buy be a trouble if any coupon was involved? Especially if the -50 hit the amount below the coupon's minimum?

I have the same question. Does the trade-in discount work with in-store $25/$75 coupon?

Manager said that it MAY work because shredder recycle program has a different sku #. He said doesn't mind trying it. He said if there were something else in the order it would most likely work (hint!) Will try today and report back. (Sacramento, CA)
I sure hope it does, I'm so sick of this piece of junk shredder that jams if you look at it cross-wise!

If you don't have a shredder to trade in, try your local goodwill store, I got one for $6 a while back.

I added Staples shredder oil for 7.99 and applied 25 off 100. Took a screen shot. It says $50 for recycle (period). Now if they return, rebuy 'HTF' they do it, it is their problem. They have to give $50 back. $50 recycle does not say anything about coupon it is already applied.
Be prepared to speak to manager there as it will take them some time to figure this out

Work for me in store. The mgr was impressed with my deal but didn't question the transaction.

Worked for me, in Store, Sacramento, CA. Had to buy $3.00 of filler items (after $50 trade in rebate, it was shy of $75), bought a few $1 items. Used my $22 of rewards so almost free for me! (Warranty was 7.99 on it and you don't have to keep track of your receipt so I bought it. Said if motor goes out they replace or refund.) This was a GREAT deal and I really needed one that WORKS! Green for you, Mr. Cheap!

Update, machine has already gotten jammed a few times and is currently stuck, even when you put less than 12 sheets and they are neatly stacked. Not sure this is the shredder for me!

OK update, make sure shreds aren't near the cutters, if the pile of shreds gets too high the machine will refuse to work. As long as you smush them down/empty it works fine. (Sorry for the false alarm, it took a WOMAN to figure this out, LOL! Husband got frustrated and walked away saying "Take it back!") My old (cheaper) one did the same thing, got all snitty if the shreds were too high in the waste can below the teeth.
@ King of spades, so your experience indicates that the extra warranty for 7.99 isn't worth it then because they won't stand behind it? Will keep in mind for next purchase to skip that. Thanks for the heads up King.

hmm interesting, thanks for the update. One more question - would not the "bin full" light fire up under such condition? Yours did not or just you did not notice at first?

King of Spades, your issue was with a laptop. this is a shredder, and on items this cheap, they usually just replace them. Sorry you had an issue, but please don't alarm people that every Staples warranty issue is going to turn out like yours.
I got a laptop 4 years ago at Staples where the DVD-Cd burner wasn't burning DVD/CD's. The warranty company cut me a check for the cost of the laptop cause they said it would cost them more to repair it.

Thanks Op. Picked mine up this morning and gave them my old POS shredder that has been in my garage for quite a few years. That thing has to be at least 22-24 years old. They never even looked in the plain jane cardboard box to see if a shredder was in it.
Took me about 20 minutes in store though, as the cute little cashier couldn't get things to work right. She had to get the cute manager to come and help her out.
$27.79 for this heavy duty shredder is a GREAT price! It does cd's and credit cards too, in addition you do not need to remove standard_staples from the papers before shredding. Since the total was only $39.99 before tax, the warranty was only $4.99. However, I didn't get it. The cashier said I would have to go through the manufacturer for the warranty. Well, considering it is a Staples product, I guess that would be Staples, right? lol... Save yourself the $4.99 or $7.99...

I bought online, and took old shredder to B&M. They took the shredder and gave me a receipt of receiving old shredder. I was told that I will be credited by Staples.com. I suspect Staples.com has no clue about my recycling. There will be a phone fight.

You can get the shredders in the OP for $3 or busted shredders to trade in for $3?

nope, that's not how it's supposed to work according to what others have posted. the store should have issued you back a $50 credit on the credit card you paid with, not pass the buck to Staples.com.
someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but think I'm right on this.

The store is supposed to call Staples.com, and Staples.com would issue the credit.

but do you get a receipt of the credit while you're at the store? sounds like all he got was a receipt for an old shredder, not a $50 credit.

I did not go through the process personally. That's what another person reported in the "phone with trade-in" thread.
