Make a separate battle.net account for it. Pay 60 bucks now, play D3 until you get bored, and sell your battle.net account... (more)

Thanks!!

I missed out on Newegg's $49.99 price, and I don't have micro center near me. I'm still hoping Amazon or Newegg will drop the price. Doubt it will happen though.

This looks like it will most likely be an in-store only deal. Great find still!

Trying to decide if I want to buy and play this game or have a life... D2 Meph, Pindle, and Cow runs ruined a good portion of my social life.

Meph... it'll ruin your life.

Baal Run with MF Sorceress and Map Hack ftw

Thanks for the heads up. Now... I have a 49.99 shipped preorder from Newegg, but it wont arrive till later in the week. What to do, what to do...

It is if everyone else is selling it for $60.

I'm in when it hits $30. Hopefully on BF.

Baal took too long to get to, pindle had same range of drops and was faster.. best I ever found was Arkain's Valor though. I was a MF Zon that used a staff with teleport charges to speed through maps and had a few hacked items that were ridiculous. I had like 3 mules full of Sojs. Those were the days when pierce and homing arrow stacked.

While I can't say I put off many things for D2 except for maybe sleep... I don't even want to know how many hours I put into that game overall. I played it off and on for the better part of 10 years. No other game has been close.

However I don't think D3 will really be the same, because gamers are too soft nowadays. The beautiful and ridiculous thing about D2 is it that the best builds were very specialized tying the perfect stat/skill/equipment combination together. You had to know your goal at level 1, and you had to build and lvl a different character for each build. On top of that the rules changed several times with the expansion and big change patches.

D3 seems to completely remove that aspect, which is nice for casual gamers but really kills a lot of the drive to build many characters and removes the huge swing of patch rebalancing. I'm also very suspicious of the auction house system, though with real money involved at least Blizzard will have some motivation to manage hacking, which they did a ridiculous job on with D2.

I have no doubt the game will be a huge commercial success but somehow I don't think it will have quite the same replay / staying power as D2. I'll buy it, of course. But somehow I doubt it will cost me as much sleep as D2 did.

Completely agreed with FranksandBeans. The game is becoming too easy. You don't have much choice in your character's upgrade path. Die hard D2 fans would be disappointed. It seems to be the trend in the video game industry now. Look at FF series, they are much easier to complete the whole game.

If Blizzard would have used graphics good as today, better anti-cheat, and better anti-spam in redoing D2, I would have paid a pretty good price for it. I haven't touch d3 but reviews scare me a bit.

How is it more choice in D2 when you just googled the exact number of stat points you needed to put where and did exactly what the guide told you to?

The expansion came out, 1 year after the initial release? That probably extended the life span of the game, not shortened it. I imagine there will be some additions to D3 as well. Remember that D2 was very different when it first came out than how it looked after LoD and multiple patches.

D2 was revolutionary in many ways and it's gonna be very difficult for D3 to replicate that.

Regarding character builds in D2, after synergies were introduced the number of viable builds per class dropped considerably.

Do NOT buy.
the game is NOT a game.
It's a DRUG.

You play, and you will lose your invaluable time and wasted in the grinding.

lol.

I quit.

Not sure what's worse; the fact that you got the Konami code wrong, or the fact that it has nothing to do with Diablo...

On topic: I heard some bad things about the beta, but I did see gameplay footage that looked pretty nice.

Deal is pretty good for anyone who missed out on the Newegg deal. The 5% off might help take off some of the sales tax (if there is any).

Up, down, left, right then "a" and start ....Can Johnney5 tell me which game that is for without googling?

Aladdin on Sega Genesis? I don't know. If I got it wrong, at least I didn't google it...

You got the system correct! Sonic the Hedgehog...It is the code for level select.

Off-topic again, but he did get it right. Yeah the code technically ends after b a, but unless you hit start (or select start for 2p) then the code is useless.

Touché.

Heard that the MC was a price mistake and that the deal was until May 14th... One day before release... what a cop out...

deal was until May 14th?

Yeah check out the ad that was posted here...

Just to clarify, it's $59.99 now. All the adds show full price, the sticker is full price, and it rings up full price.

What reviews? The press wasn't given review copies of the game. Any impressions are based on the beta that everyone else had access to. I would be more scared off by a review written less than 12 hours after the reviewer got his or her hands on the game.

DING.DING.DING.

Plus, you were tied to a "Bow-A-Zon", "Zealot", "Ice Sorceress", etc.

The new game let's you play all the builds. Addition by subtraction.

Has anyone tried this? I called and asked for the price said it was $59. Then I went to the MC website to brows their ad and it shows up with $59 as well and $5 more for the Warcraft 3 chest set. may be regional only?

The ad for $49.99 on 5/15 in store was available earlier on their front page, then they took the ad off their front page later today. I called the store, and they said price in store is now $59.99. Salesman said I got the last one they had at their DFW store. They are now sold out at the DFW store, they tell me.

I printed out a copy of the old ad which is still online. And I was able to get microcenter to price match the old ad. the main manager had to come out and I had to tell him that this is a bait and switch if they didn't honor the ad.

I'm in when it hits $30. Hopefully on BF.

I saw SC3 for $30 in Target during the holidays and it had only just come out earlier in the year, so there's a good chance D3 will be the same way.

That was a crappy tactic by MicroCenter, I drove all the way there for it to argue with them about their ad

Make a separate battle.net account for it. Pay 60 bucks now, play D3 until you get bored, and sell your battle.net account on eBay for 58 bucks. Only ends up costing you 10 bucks or so to play.
