You are right about the Deluxe similar to OCZ Max IOPS and Patriot's Wildfire using the Toggle nand, but I thought Mushkin... (more)

my bad, you are right.

It is the Chronos MX that is similar to Vertex.
The Chronos maps to Agility.

http://camelegg.com/product/N82E16820226236 And you should be, only $3 higher than the low of $100 (a one-day-sale).

I'm debating getting this to put in the one older computer I use that doesn't have an SSD. Once you go SSD every computer you work on (installing software updates, etc) without an SSD just feels a little painful.

I got one from the shell shocker it was a huge upgrade. My old laptop feels like a whole different computer.

Sorry for a dumb question but will this SATA III SSD work with a pretty basic net book (an Acer Aspire One 12" from Target that frequently shows up as good buys in FW), or do I need to buy an older, slower SATA I or II SSD? Thanks.

of course it will! it does have to be sata 1 2 or 3, and of course 3 will be the fastest speed, but 1 is still hella fast.

mushkin is an awesome brand. if id not gotten the 256gb corsair for 175 bux, id have gotten this!

Amazon has it for the same price.
Do these have any software making copying windows idiot-proof, or do I have to google that myself? I have an extra HD bay in my old laptop, but I'm not too swift with this stuff.

It's computers, so there's always bigger idiots than the ones you plan for. But, for what it's worth, my Intel SSD came with a limited version of Acronis True Image Home that worked very nicely for me. I've been meaning to pick up a cheap copy soon.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832200030 $10 after rebate.

EDIT: That's odd, intel drives had True Image Home but, just looking at the description, it almost sounds like Acronis Migrate Easy 7 is the more appropriate product.
For what it's worth, it looks like they have a full featured 15 day trial of Migrate Easy on the website.

This one is free for personal use and one of my favorite - http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

Pulled the trigger on this one to finally upgrade my main notebook drive - it was a 60gb ssd from a few years ago and simply running out of space. I'm going to miss it, but it was an awesome upgrade at the time for an old notebook. Highly recommended upgrade #2 (#1 is to upgrade your memory).

Thanks OP!

Deal's still on. There's quite a few SSD deals right now. Here's a 128 Crucial for $109
I just might be overcomplicating this.

While I have never used a Mushkin HD, i have bought plenty of their ram.
Mushkin is a really good brand.

IMO the best SSDs on the market are OWC (Other World Computing).

They sell at a premium but are WELL worth the extra coin.

I have them in both my iMac and MB Air.
Perfect in every way.

? Not down, Still Up. I ordered this unit and the sandisk one for $89 sunday, and should see them tomorrow. Cant wait, I already have an OCZ agility3 in my lappy, but one of these is going in the wifes laptop and one in the work from home machine.

I ordered from Amazon and got it overnight. I selected 2-day shipping but they upgraded it unexpectedly at no charge. It's very, very fast and appears to be very reliably built. Including the mounting tray was a nice touch. As someone else mentioned, download and use Macrium Reflect to clone the drive. It's free and works perfectly.

What is the main difference between enhanced chronos and deluxe version? The enhanced version is twice as expensive

The Muskin enhanced is analogous OCZ Vertex 3.

Muskin Deluxe is to OCZ Vertex Max IOPS

Pretty much, throughput starts dropping like a rock (read/write speeds) when you have a bunch of tiny tiny files. The technology in Deluxe/IOPS helps remedy that.

I guess in terms of loading window (which includes loading many tiny files), the Deluxe version should work much better. Am I correct?
I don't if it is significant enough that I would pay $20 more for it (not much really if it much faster). My laptop can take in 2 hard drives, so I am just using this one since I can load program faster and etc

The extra $20 goes for random file read/writes ability. Windows load files aren't random, so you don't really get much of a speed boost. The deluxe/IOPS is really for people who do lots of random read/writes of small files/temp files, or for people who like to have "Top of the Line".

If all you do is gaming/email/web surfing, the $20 is better used to upgrade a different component on the computer.

Great advice! thanks!

You are right about the Deluxe similar to OCZ Max IOPS and Patriot's Wildfire using the Toggle nand, but I thought Mushkin Enhanced was similar to OCZ's Agility 3, or the Corsair's Force 3 and Patriot's Pyro where everyone is using the asynchronous nand?
