Wow, very good price on both, thanks OP! I have been researching prices for several months now and this is best I have seen yet, even on eBay (for new).
Looks like Life is OOS online

both are sold out online. The only chance you have is to find a store near you that has them.
Good luck

I just placed an order for Life online, and it went through. Wasn't listed as OOS when I checked. Seems to be back up again.

If you are in Atlanta and looking for BBC Life, there is one left at the Cumberland store. I picked up the last one at Perimeter and none left at Gwinnett or North Point. I did not check on Planet Earth (already own that) sorry.

archena said: Still available and I guess I did not see this since I was out over the weekend Trick is to find a store that still have them in stock. I went to a couple of BB this weekend and neither had them. One had Planet Earth, narrated by DA, but I guess it was the wrong version so it still rang up at $75ish.
Received this 6-Disc BBC special edition from BB in the mail today (was on backorder). Back cover says resolution is 1080i. Is that correct?

Yes. BUT the original material was also 1080i albeit the material was produced at the BBC 1080i50. The SE was put on disc as 1080i60 to make it US compatible while the original release in 2007 was a massaged 1080p24. Both US discs are compromised is a bit different way than the original BBC material, but both look very good. The video to me looks marginally different than the 2007 (better in some places, sl worse in others), but the audio upgrade, and massive upgrade in extras make this the Best of the PE releases including the UK releases.
Excerpt for bluray.com review "The "i" in "1080i" will surely scare away some fans and leave others grumbling, but in motion, the 1080i encode isn't going to disappoint very many people. Comparisons between the 1080i and 1080p versions end in a near draw, although I will go on record as saying the 2007 1080p presentation still has an edge, particularly when it comes to wide shots teeming with fields of birds or beasts. Ultimately, anyone straddling the fence should focus on the real upgrades the Special Edition affords: a DTS-HD High Resolution 5.1 surround track and more than thirteen hours of special features and bonus documentaries."

By the way, I was just at a Best Buy that was OOS before and now they had several copies of each in stock. If you wanted this and couldn't find it in-stores before, might be worth another check. At least my store seemed to have restocked.
