this is great. NorCal to San Diego for two, cheaper than the gas it would take to drive it. Done deal.

My cities weren't on the list - but I priced out a planned trip from San Antonio to Little Rock in September and I could get 2 round trip tickets (stop in DFW but no plane changes) for $400 - I added the early bird sign in for both ways ($40) and when all was said and done it came out to $366 for the two. Not sure where the extra discount came in (I used gift cards) - but I'll take it!

Be careful with how long the flights are. There seems to be pretty lenghty stopovers on some flights.

Great deal. RT from Burbank to Jacksonville FL is $300!! Thats normally the price of ONE WAY! Sad I can't take advantage of this deal, so I'm stuck with my $600 trip. Great find, OP!

FYI. I just noticed that United matched the same fares (at least from SFO to LAS).

If I purchase now for a date in November but cant use the tickets. Will I be able to sell them? Will they let me change the date of departure for a lil fee?
thanks

Booked a roundtrip to Portland for <$100. But be aware that not all scheduled flights to your destination have the same price. For us, some were $49 (early and late) while others were $60. Still, as usual, an excellent deal.

No longer can you sell the tickets. The person that the ticket was purchased for is the only person who can use the ticket. If you cancel the ticket, there are no change fees. However, the ticket must be used prior (travel completed) to one year from the original purchase date. ie. if you buy today, all travel must be completed by June 13, 2013

Thanks for the tip, but I actually start school the week of the sale, so I just have to pay for convenience

In other words, you cannot lock into these low prices and then "sell the ticket" to make a profit, nor can you keep the pricing from the original purchase. But as linrick said, you can apply the refunded credit toward any new ticket purchase within that first year at whatever the going rate is at time of purchase.

Of course, the biggest difference is that Southwest will not take away $150 of your ticket value as a "change fee." When prices are close to comparable with other airlines (and also factoring the baggage fees), we book with Southwest. The change fees and baggage fees are HUGE reasons to always consider Southwest first.

I'm curious how you get the credit thats useable for anyone. I cancelled a previous reservation on SWA and rebooked the same flights with the sale prices. When I went to apply the credits from the cancelled reservation, the names had to be exactly the same on the new reservation as the old one or the computer would not apply the credit. So it seems to me that credits from cancelled reservations are now linked such that each person on the reservations gets the credit for their airfare linked to their name. When I cancelled and rebooked in past years, I do not recall this being the case. If there is a way to work around this new 'restriction', I'd certainly welcome that information because it seems overly restricting.

Southwest change this policy sometime in the last year or so. Formerly, the credit could be applied to any person's travel within the allowable time period. Now, it must be the same individual within that time period. Certainly a diminution of the benefit, but still significantly better than with other airlines.
A restriction on use of the funds is still far superior to complete confiscation of $150 of those funds.

Managed to get a roundtrip with nonstops from Austin to Chicago on American (who was matching some fares) for a show in September ... $198 is about as cheap as I've ever seen it.
