14.95/mo for 12 months DSL up to 3 Mbps downstream includes access to entire national att wifi hotspot network no additional charge
18/mo for unlimited local calling caller id and call waiting included
14/mo for unlimited nationwide calling
I called 18662890177 to sign up using a California cell phone and it routed me automatically to the CA att sales office.
Gave him this info, talked about the letter and he signed me up for 14.95/mo DSL month to month without a contract and then told me to sign up for the phone portion through another number he gave me. I eventually did that, but if someone didn't need a landline, it'd be 14.95/mo standalone DSL.
invitation code: 6581024577 offer code: bf18-6145
$15 one time fee, installation optional modems that will be free after 1 year service. (I opted to buy my own modem)
Does it include installation, modem and other wi-fi equipment? I signed up a 6Mps deal about 5 months ago for $24.95/mo that did not include them.

Careful - ATT DSL T&C's were updated last year to include a clause that they can switch you to U-Verse, at their discretion. I ended up making the jump myself last year, when my DSL promotion ended, max available speed in my area is 3 mbps. Now paying $29.99 per month for 6 mbps for one year.

Good information, U-Verse is not available in my area, yet. Thanks for that, I'll be ready for it, if it happens.

It includes a free modem with a year contract and $15 installation, I believe. I saw bad reviews on the 2 modems they offerred in my area so I bought my own modem and reused my wireless router. I was paying 29.99 with TW cable but my deal expired and they jacked up the price to 39.99 a month and wouldn't give me no deal to keep me. So when I saw the letter I jumped.

That's a hoot. VOIP requires very little speed. I'm not sure what it's optimized for today, but I remember ~5 years ago they had it pretty well optimized for maximum quality in the 50-80kbps range, which is what...about 4% of a 3mbps DSL connection? The real issue for DSL is latency, which is supposed to be lower (better) and more consistently lower than cable modem, though today both DSL and cable modem service in most areas have very good latency levels.
I had AT&T 6mbps DSL on the $19.99 promo for a year, and it was okay but it couldn't even consistently stream normal movies from Netflix (should be able to work fine in the 2-3mbps range). That was pretty sad. I thought it was my wireless network in the crowded area I'm in, but then I switched to Comcast cable-modem and all was just fine.

I had 6mbps service in the SF Bay Area, regularly testing between 4.8-6.0 on speedtest, and I always had a hard time streaming Netflix. Seemed like every 10-15 minutes the speed would drop for a few minutes, which made watching Netflix movies frustrating to say the least.

Not a techy person and would appreciate any advice. If you could purchase either the ATT basic U-Verse (768 kbps) or DSL Extreme (up to 3 mbps) for the same amount of $$, which would you choose and why? Do y'all think a tech novice could properly install their wireless router? I was told by a phone csr that installation was not difficult, but not really ready to trust his opinion.
FYI, the $14.95 promos are good in central NC.
If this is too OT, please PM. Thank you for the input!

I have had both uVerse and DSL Extreme in the past....in my case I had good experiences with both. DSL Extreme in my area requires a land line because I'm in an AT&T area - if you are in Verizon you can get naked DSL and if you don't need a land line that will save you some money. We are moderate users, mostly email, browsing, but occasional movie streaming and the basic uVerse and DSL Extreme speeds were fine for us. Setup for either is not especially difficult but if you are not a techie you'd probably want to get a friend with some experience to assist - both setups are about the same. Overall....in my experience...it's a toss up.

DSL Extreme 3 mbps, no question. 768 kbps will not allow video streaming (Netflix et al) at a watchable resolution. DSL-E is a reseller, so you will likely end up with ATT service in both cases. If you intend on streaming video on a relatively large screen (40" or larger), I would spend the extra $$ for at least 6 mbps.

when my promotional DSL rate ended a few months ago, retention dept. gave me a lower price than regular, although higher than my promo rate. then a couple of months later, got a letter from AT&T that they will switch me to Uverse. since they were switching me, got $14.95/month for a year for 3Mbs and a free gateway (modem + wireless router).
recommend you wait for them to initiate the change to Uverse.

Thanks BruceG and shank! I already have an ATT landline and was debating on their U-Verse, DSL Extreme or TWC basic internet (d/l up to 3 mbps and upload up to 1 mbps). All 3 are the same price. It'll be a 12 month commitment, so I'm trying my best to determine which service offers the best bang for the buck. We need something that can play FB games and watch You Tube or 'how to' videos w/out constant buffering. Don't use Netflix at the current time, but that could change.
Really appreciate your help!
Happy 4th, everyone!

Hi there.....do you live in CA? Would you mind sharing the phone # you called and the person you talked with. I'm paying $23 now. This is my 2nd extension. I used to pay $15 as well but they raised it to $20 for 6 months after first year. And then, raised it again to $23 now til Sept 23rd. I just wanna pay $15. Pretty soon, I think Google will make internet FREE for every1 as long as you buy that box for $300.

Well, I just tried to do this...after being transferred to four different operators, I finally got to someone who said that you cannot get the $14.95/mo without signing up for a home phone or some other AT&T service. I kept trying to give her the invitation code and offer code; but she just kept saying the same thing over and over again. Saying that there was NO WAY to get this deal.
Did you happen to have a scan of this deal or a link to it handy?
Who would have thought they would make it so difficult to give a company money!

Thought I would try for this again - called and failed again. Only way to get the $14.95 is with another service according to all the people I spoke too. Otherwise it is $19.95/mo

I just cancelled my AT&T DSL today. Their best & final offer was $28 for the Pro level ($ 10 off the regular $38/month) and they said once cancelled no more DSL in my area (must go up to U-Verse from now on). While not cheaper, I am going mobile 4G on Sprint.

just got my DSL (6M) lowered to $28/mo for 12 month due to Xfinity price change that lowered their bundled TV/Internet pricing. My cable internet pric would be just $30/mo since I also have cable TV. I was paying ATT $43/mo for 6M internet.

Ouch! I pay less than that for my 12mbps U-Verse. That's sick.
