This is 2nd generation ... which means Sandy Bridge, rather than Ivy Bridge (3rd Generation) ... released in May 2012.

SSD is upgradable ... battery is replaceable (not glued in) but since it claims 1500 recharges, that shouldn't be an issue for a few years, by which time, hopefully replacements will be easily obtainable.

edit: teardown pictures were for the 900X3A ... the 900X3B has soldered memory (although technically it can be upgraded to 8gb as well)

Any detailed review links?

Spend $979 and get the Zenbook Prime (comparable after MSFT tax). Trust me on this. Amaz0n.

Had this laptop now for 7 months. Best ultraportable out there. Great performance, head turner.

Expired.

Too bad I missed out on this deal. Even though it's got older Sandy Bridge hardware, it's basically the same as the newer Series 9 that just came out with Ivy Bridge (looks to have the same chassis, screen, etc -- just the internals are slightly outdated). Wish I got on this, because now there is only a $300 instant discount instead of the $500 discount. Along with the CashBack I could have gotten, and the free Xbox for students (and ultimately selling the Xbox), I could have snagged this bad boy for final net total of probably under $700. Oh well...

@coolbreeze -- I bought and exchanged three Zenbook Primes from Best Buy due to various issues -- the quality control at ASUS seems to suck. I'm hoping it's just the units sent to Best Buy, but if not, it's much more worth it to get the Series 9, even if the screen is not spec'd as well as the Zenbook (but still is a great screen though), since Samsung's quality control and build quality of the Series 9 seems to be much better.
