Fry's has them on sale this week, & there was a FW thread a day or so ago on the Prime selling for ~$5 more I think at JR. Woot's had them a buck or 3 cheaper than the egg's $130. Amazon has had them on sale too. I don't know if they were over-priced to begin with, if they have problems working with win8, if they just aren't selling or what, but sales have gotten pretty frequent. Love mine but there are cons so research before you buy, & note the egg's re-stocking fee.
I have a 27 inch monitor next to my computer I use for cable, Netflix and also a second monitor for the PC. A month or so ago the HDMI input I use for cable died and this will let me save $$ over time and just use the one input. It is a single box replacement now, but in the future I can probably figure out how to make more use in my house. Very nice. I am bringing the box back today and getting a card for my delivery next week.

I have only OTA reception using a antenna. Can I use it?

Pl. advise.
No. The Prime model is only for cable. They make other models that work with over the air.

I've been using this since January, and I've had some really good times with it, and some really poor times with it. Right now I've got everything running pretty stable, and have replaced all of my STBs. Streams and records to my HTPCs just fine. Whatever you do, just make sure that you don't install the beta drivers from their website. The way CableLabs' requirements work, once you install a firmware, you can't install another with a date older than the one you already have. They've been trying to fix some critical errors in Beta for a few months now.

How many tuner boxes do you need to use connect multiple TV sets?

I went for this. If I can turn in my Comcast HD DVR, this will pay for itself in 8 months. Might have to get a better remote for Media Center. Will like having three tuners, instead of two with the comcast box, plus I have a large hard drive for storage in my HTPC, so I can get past the limited space on the DVR I currently have. Don't forget FatCash, which I think is 4%.

Does this hook up directly to a TV or do you need a computer?
I am looking for something that basically replaces the the comcast cable box as I am sick and tired of their monthly rental fee..

Yes, it works for verizon fios. You will need to purchase a cable card which is a monthly fee to decrypt channels. However, it works great and is like having three additional dvrs.

How many tuner boxes do you need to use connect multiple TV sets? Just one. But you need at least one HTPC and then some MMC extenders (like an Xbox).

Thanks OP, ordered one from Amazon. Saved taxes because Newegg charges in NJ.

First started with Hauppauge then switched over to infiniTV4 because of the 4 tuners and am happy with the result. The Win7Ultimate HTPC gets cranky after a while but once I have it reboot every early Monday morning the system is as solid as any Windows based system. Now every room has an Xbox360 instead of the annoying Verizon DVRs that they raised the monthly price on. I'm able to save close to $60 a month in just fees alone not to mention any more taxes and such on top. Windows Media Center is by far the best kept secret on the venerable OS by MS. It's no wonder that they are trying to kill it now, it is about the most useful feature you can find on any MS made product why break the trend?
As much as I would love to stop giving Verizon money for these POS boxes, I don't have any of the necessary auxiliary equipment. I'd have to build a HTPC since I don't think the laptop I have could cut it, and I wouldn't want to run a laptop essentially 24/7. Then I'd have to get two extenders, which from what I can a 360 is the easiest to find and on the cheaper end since they stopped making dedicated extenders. On top of that, you lose on-demand right? I don't use PPV, but do use the "free" on-demand content from the channels occasionally.

Any reason not to get two of these vs. the six tuner that's about $500?
dude, without this one, other sellers won't match their prices...

Bought one of these a few months ago to turn a PC in the guest room into the cable box since there was no jack. This box is awesome once you can get it straight with the cable company. For those that are looking for a remote I picked this one up during a Newegg Shell Shocker for $15:
It does a great job since I can open up Windows Media Center, control a DVD in the drive, and go to the guide and change channels and such. I hate to give props to Microsoft but the media center is pretty nice for this application.

this thing is great. i paid full retail price for mine when it came out and it was worth every penny. had some recording issues early on, but they regularly release bug fixes, which has helped me a lot. im thinking about getting a 2nd at this price...
I have searched but could not find solid answers to the below.
1. To use the DVR feature can I use an HDD connected to the router or does it have to be in the PC with the software?
2. Is it MAC friendly at all?

If you are using Windows Media Center (WMC) unless you want to setup a iSCSI system you can only record to a drive in the computer running WMC. Mapped drives won't work. Also only WMC has support for CableCard encryption. What shows are encrypted and which ones are not depends on your cable company and your location. Even with the same cable company there are different rules for different areas.

I've seen some mentions of this on the web but nothing definitive enough for me. Does this have Linux support? I want to hook up my TVs to Raspberry Pi boxes running XBMC and use this box to stream cable TV to them.
