Actually the waterproof iPad case is an "additional" $8.99 in price.($15.98)

I would not trust these as "waterproof".
I have various models of this style case(but not this specific one) and I would classify these as "water resistant"... great for keeping a splash off the device, but not for submerging.

Not sure I'd put my new iPhone 5 in a $6 case and toss it in the pool.
