It comes with starter ink, lasting about 180 pages. So, $20 divided by 180= .11 cents a page for just B&W printing. And for newfriends noting it doesn't come with a printer cable, I think they stopped including cables with printers in 2009.
I don't know why I didn't buy this yet. Maybe because it only has a 90 day warranty. PCworld reviewed 56 printers and found the average cost per page was 5.6 cents and this Canon is twice that.

Do the generic ink stores not have ink for it?

Incorrect. It actually comes with full sized ink cartridges, just not the XL extra sized ink.

Is there any that do include it? If so it is very rare and always called a BONUS PACKAGE

Ordered 2 and cancelled due to the no generic cartridges ink for this model. Refilling is not an option.

In for one. Thanks OP! I just paid Kinko's yesterday to print out stuff for school in color when my current inkjet crapped out on me! That cost me $21, so at $20 for this printer, it's well worth it. Even if it isn't great.

Have you checked the replacement ink price? Though they can be refilled with the needle and bulk ink, that would be the way to go.
