Cool! I am looking for one of these and this seems to be cheaper than anything at BF.

Man, I have a $50 gift card I've been sitting on waiting for a decent computer/tv/laptop/tablet deal. Is this it? Shows $127.99 for me in cart w/ local pickup.

are you sure it's second gen? it's only 8gb.
edit: oh, i see this model is only 159-174 normally depending on special offers.
I didn't know that and it's not what I want. Play store is getting or might be bigger than the Apple App store now. It's definitely a plus with all the free applications.
Which for some people is exactly what they want. Probably, but many people (including probably most of the GP that buys a Fire) would want Google Play access. So why the red for trying to help? I didn't give an opinion.

Is this now-dead deal dead because inventory is gone? Or is it going to end up being one of those pricing mistakes retailers sometimes make online and then end up canceling orders people have already placed (e.g. the WalMart Lord of the Rings Trilogy blu-Ray mistake of a month or so ago)?
I only ask, for one reason, because the item is now completely gone from the site; if it were just sold out, wouldn't they just indicate that on the product page instead of wiping the page off completely?
Also, I ordered one and it's supposedly being held for me at my nearby TRU; just want to make sure I actually have it still

I got one but haven't opened it yet. Any way to confirm if it is 2nd gen (with front-facing camera etc) by looking up the serial number or something before opening it??

The one you got should not have a camera, that is the HD model.

BTW if your sku is 814916014385 then you have the "first gen" kindle fire.
If the sku is 848719003765 then you have the "second gen" kindle fire. I expect that most/everyone got second gen aka late 2012 version with more ram etc.
