Only thing stopping me from getting this deal.

It's also a year old and doesn't automatically align HDR shots, which is the one feature I really want in an upgrade.

Careful folks read the reviews very carefully. This camera is not better then the S95 especially when taking pictures in low light settings.

Agree with above on the lens error. Check out the Amazon reviews. They suck. The earlier version S95 is not on sale at all. Think about it.

Well, that's because the S95 was discontinued quite a while ago and clearanced when the s100 came out. You can buy the refurbished s95 at the canon store for $220ish right now and has been as low as $180 in the past two months.

Also, the lens error issue is a concern, but here's Canon's response:

This camera is absolutely better than the S95. I've taken thousands of pictures with both, and the S100 is a spectacular camera. (Don't get me wrong, so was the S95.)

I've never had the lens error, but Canon developed a very speedy and free exchange program for anyone who did. All electronics have problems at some point, and I think their handling of this issue has been pretty great.
