Concerning the value of the Canvio over the more expensive WD My Passport; haven't you been reading the user reviews? The USB cable that links the Toshiba-Canvio to the computer has a proprietary connector on the drive side and it apparently is a weak connector and a lot of folk are having problems. Sure, it's cheaper than the WD, but how much did you save when you have to send it back for warranty repair???

It's NOT a proprietary connector. I own a Toshiba Canvio 1TB USB 3.0 drive, and a few Seagate Expansion 750GB USB 3.0 drives.
Those are the standard USB mini-A connectors. They just look proprietary, because until lately, no-one had seen them before.
